    • A nice small workbench
I haven't had a chance to build a large workbench. This came quickly and was easy to assemble. I clamp it to a desk I have and it allows me to do some small work. Looks real nice also.

Works well but is difficult to open vise as there is binding. Wax helped but may have to take it apart and slightly file the wood guides.

    • Really poor quality
The first unit of this I received was missing the wooden dowel for the handle and I noticed the wood channels cut for the side metal poles to slide through weren't sized to match correct and had been cracked by the force of the poles being inserted while shipping. Send that one back for a replacement. The second one came and while it finally had all parts, it also had the same cracked wood already from the poor sized channels. This caused the poles to bind like crazy when sliding in/out so opening and closing the vice was nearly impossible. Loath to go through the whole process exchange again with such a heavy box, I decided to live with the crack and widen the channel myself with a router. It's working okay now but for the cost of this thing I'm incredibly disappointed that two separate ones of these in a row were poorly milled in the same way.     • Slight crown down the center
There's a crown about 1/64" proud of the sides down the center ,at least on the one I recieved. They should have used a better belt in their wide belt sander. Poor quality control, which makes me wonder by whom and where this little bench was actually built. Easily remedied with a scraper plane or proper belt sanding. Great function,hardware,and timber, and it was quick to assemble with the included star drive tool. I would advise waxing or using a bar of soap on all the deep thread screws prior to assembly and don't forget the small locator pins to align the top and bottom prior to screwing together. 4 stars due to quality control issues but other than that it's easily a 5 star item. Especially when considering what one would pay for the timber,hardware, and in the time involved to do the resawing,mill work and dimensioning . So I'd guess that if you decided to build a copy,it would easily cost 3x the $300 in time and labor. ... show more

Appears to be larger and heavier than expected. Update: Assembly was a piece of cake. Use some screw wax and an impact driver for easier assembly.
