Description

SITKA MEN'S FANATIC HOODY The Men's Fanatic Hoody lives up to its legendary name. Body-mapped grid and microgrid fleeces work together to regulate your body temp while keeping scent down, thanks to Polygiene Control Technology. The hood is streamlined for maximum peripheral vision, and the built-in mask can be deployed when the hood is on for enhanced concealment. The integrated hand muff and flip-over hand mitts in the sleeves keep your fingers warm and ready. SPECS: - Weight: 16.6 oz. // Size: L - Body and Hood Fabric: Heavyweight Comfort Stretch Fleece (93% Polyester/7% Elastane) - Mask Fabric: Quick-Dry, Lightweight Stretch Mesh (88% Polyester/12% Elastane) - Half- length, off-set, center front zipper - Pass-through hand-warmer pocket - Flip- over hand Mitts With integrated thumb holes - Offset seams on shoulders WHY WE MADE THIS Whitetail archery hunters need quiet, durable protection. Traditional outerwear isn't as silent as advertised and lacks technical and intuitive hunting features. Our approach was to build a comfort stretch fleece insulation piece that could be versatile enough to be worn as outerwear in early season or layered into a system for all seasons. A half-zip construction allows room for the built-in hand muff, and integrated flip-over hand mitts keep fingers warm and agile for the moment of truth.

  • outstanding piece of gear
Im a huge fan of sitka and this is probably their most versatile piece of gear for white tail. It can be used as a stand alone sweat shirt, part of a layering system, or combined with the fanatic vest. In 20 degree weather I use a base layer with the fanatic hoodie combined with the fanatic vest, and when i get on stand I will then layer up. Sitka is a system, but with that said this is a great piece to start out with. ... show more

  • Well worth it
Large isn’t so large. But it’s not meant to be. This is probably one of the best pieces of hunting gear out there. As a layer or on its own. Well made and well thought out. Worth the money.

  • Sizing questionable, product not
Let me start off by saying this is the single most expensive thing I wear on my body, whether it be shoes, jacket, clothing, etc. I bought this "shirt" after seeing a friend buy one and being enamored by its versatility, innovative nature, construction, stitching, apparent warmth/comfort and because it really does looks pretty cool in its own unusual way. Most retailers who sell Sitka have a small island or maybe one row dedicated to their products, and they don't usually sell their entire line and have only a few samples of each model in any given size. I wear a Large (large tall, for shirts typically) and the first Fanatic hoody I got in large fit me like a glove. Perfect. tight-ish around the shoulders, loose-ish around the waist and chest, sleeves fit well and everything was so great that I went back to the store and bought a second one. This "Large" was nothing like the first. They're both labeled large on the inside of the back of the jacket, so it wasn't a tagging or stocking issue. The two Large garments are appreciably different in size. Since it's not like I have access to five of these things at once, it's impossible to know whether the one that fits me is a true large and the other is closer to an XL, or if a Medium would fit better and Large is getting into the slightly too big territory. So, for a $189 shirt, I can only imagine that when these are produced, they're produced however and then once finished they're designated a size based on a range of dimensions, as opposed to being built to specific dimensions for a given size. If this is the case (just a wild theory I've had since day one... and maybe this is how all clothes work?), that kinda sucks. I'd expect very close attention to dimensions since fit is an important characteristic of this garment. Which leads me to... I've never had a shirt which made it impossible to roll up the sleeves. I understand why this is the case with this specialized garment (I use it as an all-purpose cold-weather base layer, not for bow hunting up in a tree) but there are times where it really is handy to be able to push a sleeve up to the elbow. Just about impossible to get past 1/3 way up the forearm with this jacket, and I have small wrists. After several washes and hang drying (i'm obsessive about how I wash clothes, but I do not have a front-load washer) the shirt looks about 95% as good as it did new. I'm curious to see how it (they) hold up after a full year of use, or two or three. As others have mentioned, the quality of the elastic around the flip-over mitts is not great, showing signs of deterioration on day 1. Pilling/pulling of the fleece is happening as well, but not too badly. It does not impact comfort. It FEELS like (it's hard to verify with certainty) that after several washes, the polygeine coating which is supposed to help the shirt stink less has become much less effective. I don't know much about these fancy coatings and whether they're sprayed on or impregnated into the fabric, or what. I was this thing (these things) on average once every 10 days. And finally, for full disclosure, I got my first, perfect-fitting Fanatic for $30 due to an error on the checkout lady's part (!!!) which is why I was more than happy to go back and get a second one; they were having a 30% off sale. Bottom line is that for full retail, this is a hard sell and the sizing issue I described above would REALLY turn me off if I were paying full price for this... thing. Two for less than the price of one. Outstanding! ... show more
