The Sitka “optifade” trucker hat is a well made & good fitting for a mid-profile structured cap. The cap is made in Vietnam and has a custom branded label inside it — but for cap aficionados out there — the fit resembles the classic 6 panel Richardson 112 trucker cap which is not too shallow and not too tall, with a pre-curved visor. It is higher quality than the average overseas manufactured cap and sizes as expected (I normally wear a 7 1/2 hat size and I’m wearing it with the back closure starting on the 4th snap and the cap looks completely normal). The logo is raised with quality embroidery and looks terrific. The stitching around the cap is precise and neat. Note that the advertised “optifade” feature is actually just a small background area on the logo that is subtly adorned with Sitka’s camouflage pattern. My only criticism is that Sitka describes the cap as having a “water repellent crown” — but while the front crown area may actually be treated to repel moisture — it is actually no more water repellent than any other cap and any water drops immediately soaked in when I tested it (I did not deduct any stars for this as I didn’t really expect this to be a rain cap given that the entire rear of the cap is trucker mesh). At the time of this review, the cap is near a premium price point – but is still a good value given the high quality of the product. Enjoy!

I have worn a lot of trucker style hats over the years, and this SITKA Mid Pro version lands in a good middle ground between field use and everyday wear. If you are familiar with SITKA gear, you will recognize it. If not, it just looks like a clean, understated design. I have worn it in light drizzle and morning dew conditions, and it sheds moisture better than a standard cotton front. I put this Sitka Mid Pro hat on and immediately heard a bald eagle screech in the distance. The fit is comfortable, the look is classic, and the material is good for the field or even going out with the guys. My head is giant (XL for fitted hats) and this one fits firmly (but not too firmly) on two snaps. The Mid Pro fit is nice too since it bring it down a bit more than the typical trucker hat that can block a Wyoming wind gust. While this isn't going to replace my other water-resistant, non-mesh Sitka hats for hunting, it still is a slick one. The bold patch looks good without being too much. And that back mesh is going to be great for summer heat when my noggin is 110 degrees. So far so good. The wife even says it looks great on me so that's a party bonus.

Of course I needed the Sitka hat to wear with my other Sitka gear. The serious sportsman knows Sitka. It's high end sportswear and maybe a bit for bragging points. This hat is stylish and clearly quality made. The color goes great with my t-shirt and hunting gear. The hat is adjustable for a perfect fit and has a thick, mesh backing for durability and cool comfort in the summer heat. I like that the band has a nice wide, padded strip for comfort. Care instructions are inside-see the pic. I also like that the bill is thick enough to mold to my desired curvature. What a great hat for the price. Highly recommend.
