They look bulky, but they are not. Extremely comfortable, easy on/off. I believe you could short/medium hike in them. It is Sitka so the quality is unmatched. They are a little bougie, which the boys at camp will quickly point out. If you can handle a little razz, they are worth it.

hard to give these more than 3 stars but having owned other sitka kit, its deserved. PROS: very well built, can tell these will last a long time. very warm CONS: the foot on this boot is huge - think 1200gram boots from 10 yrs ago not particularly comfortable for walking - considerable lateral slop when walking on uneven ground and not a lot of ankle support. my feet hurt after walking 1/2 mile on hills. ... show more

I have been looking for a pair of muck type boots for a while now, and just haven't gotten around to finding the right pair. Glad I waited. The Sitka Back40 is the first boot of this type that has just worked for my foot. The ankle feels secure enough vs other boots of this type that feel like my foot is in a show box, and are generally very comfortable to walk around in. The height is perfect for thrashing through wet fields and creeks, and even wading nearly up to your knees. The insulation is warm. I wouldn't necessarily want to hike all over the back forty in these, but these boots are comfortable enough for mild hiking. Good traction, easy to put on, Sitka quality. Great boot. Glad I have them and highly recommend them. Only other note is on sizing. I wear a 10 in classic shoe sizes, 10.5 in asian made shoe sizes - - I got these in the 10 and they are perfectly sized for my foot + a thick sock. ... show more

These boots are clunky. Bought a pair for myself and my son, as Sitka is typically solid hunting wear. Not these boots. Loud and heavy. We bowhunt and climbing sticks into a stand would be brutal. Didn't even try it.

These are OUT. STANDING. Something of note - I normally wear a 10.5, ordered a 10 on accident and they fit literally like a perfectly worn in set of boots. I would have NO problem putting these on for a 10-12 hour day right out of the box. First, they are comfortable. The soles seemingly form to your feet and there is JUST enough cushion to be comfortable without being heavy. The calf section of the boot is the perfect height to keep your socks/pants dry and warm. It's like a neoprene type something or another that has JUST enough compression. I really can't say enough about these boots. As long as they last a season or two, I'll be perfectly happy with them and get another set if needed. So far, extremely happy with them! ... show more
