It's not glass. Love the acetate - the framed picture is so light. There is static cling film on both sides of the acetetate that has to be removed. You can put the removed film back on the front of the finished work for a little bit of transport protection. The frame itself is not wood, it is some kind of dense plastic, I think a high density foam. This means it can take screws if you want to have a hanging wire. I use what are called Heavy Duty D-Rings, Single Hole. They come with smallish screws and a 3/32 drill bit is just right for the screws in the package I got. Be careful not to drill through to the front of the frame, although the hole is so small nobody will notice it. Have a very small Philips screwdriver ready. No mitering, it's all one piece. I've come to be nervous about mitered corners so this is perfect for me. Be sure to have another layer of something between the art and the backing board, because the fittings are riveted (?) and are slightly raised on the inner side and could mark the art's back side. I had a little trouble with rotating some of the clips that hold the backing board in place. I used a dinner fork to pop them loose; they are easy to bend back in shape with pliers (or by hand). Once assembled, I put a short strip of masking tape across each of the clips to make sure they don't rotate by accident in the future.

I don't think I could be happier with these, they're exactly right for what I needed. They're lightweight and thin but that really worked for me. I took care not to get fingerprints all over as I peeled off the protective film so they came out really great. The one thing that concerned me for a moment was that the mat is stark white on one side but an off-white on the other which really would not have worked. I saw this as I was putting the second one together but I'm sure some people might choose differently for their projects and having a choice was nice. I wanted the stark white and would have returned them if it was in fact only the off-white. These arrived in a snug bundle but with not in a box, just the recyclable paper bag from Amazon so I was concerned because I don't think it would have taken much to seriously damage them. That said, they were in perfect condition and I am delighted as a result of my project especially when you consider that the pictures were actually a bundle of gift bags and the only hard part was finding the right frames.

Upon opening, the finish was peeling off the inside of the frame edge as pictured because it was not cut right and it was bunching up. The pictures I have are fake canvas, so I couldn't decide if I wanted to use the shiny protective plastic or not. So I hung one of the frames and decided to use the plastic. When I changed it, I actually broke on the of clips. I wouldn't expect this from the second time putting in a photo, but it's a cheap backing. Overall, if you just want to change pictures once and never change out a photo, these are flimsy, but they work for that. You may need glue to repair the finish on the inside edge of the frame. Also, as others noticed, the black on the black frame did come off quite easily all over my fresh white paint job. This is a bit of getting what you pay for experience, but I felt the quality was even a bit low for that, thus the three stars.

The media could not be loaded. These are for a few posters for my son's room and they're great. I am leaving the film on both sides because I'm not overzealous enough to care if it's on. The backer board is awesome with spring loaded pegs that are easy to push in and open or push and slide under the lip to secure. The mat is super flimsy, for the price, I understand but some really tightly rolled posters I have are making it cup. The photos aren't quite accurate, you can see the ripples on the right side. No matter, I'm hoping they will smooth out over time. Ironing singed them on the lowest heat since they're plastic. Overall these are great and I can always get a thicker mat or mount to cardboard.
