I appreciated the fact that this table was solid wood. The color was okay, but the finished product was not. The tabletop had two large flaws in the wood which reflected in the finish. I am returning this coffee table.

I needed a larger sized end table to put between two recliners for all my husband's stuff he needs at hand. After spending months looking for an antique table that would work I gave up. They aren't the solid wood furniture like the rest of my things but will do nicely for what I need. We added casters on the bottom so it is easy to move and high enough for the robot vacuum to go under. I do love the drawers which can hold quite a bit of stuff. ... show more

Three years. We look for a table for three years before we found this and decided to take advantage of the free shipping and free returns if we didn't like it. We'll be keeping it :-) Most furniture like this says "solid wood" but is, in fact, only made from cheap softwood or solid wood veneer over MDF or particleboard; not this stuff. It's real solid hardwood...almost all of it! The only plywood part is the drawer bottoms which is actually correct as solid wood would be way too week as a drawer bottom because it is so thin. It has a beautiful character to the wood and is almost a dead match for our knotty alder doors. The finish is virtually flawless - much better than expected and better than pieces costing 2X as much. The design is neutral, understated, and tasteful and would go well with the mid-century modern, cottage, modern farmhouse, transitional, or, like our house, mountain lodge styles. I knew it would require assembly so that was no big deal, but you should be aware that it's a bit of pain in the neck because it's so low to the ground and you'll be sitting on the floor for the entire process. All the holes were in the correct spot and they give you a lot of extra screws in a little bag marked "extra", but we didn't need them as it was well marked and the screws were bagged to match each assembly step (there were only about 5 total steps). Overall, it is much better than we expected and it looks great! I'm certainly going to buy more Simplihome stuff because this is an extreme value for the quality and price. ... show more

    • Several big problems!

First, I loved the Shaker end tables, which went together with ease. So I was expecting more from the matching coffee table. Out of the box there were finish problems where, during varnishing, someone touched it and the finish on two parts had actual hand prints. Then close to half the pilot holes did not fit and had to be redrilled in order to assemble it. Finally, the drawers were a mess. The tracks were warped, and had to be completely replaced. The extremely thin drawer bottoms were also warped and we had to weight them overnight in order to even get them to fit together. It took Touching up varnish, buying new drawer track hardware and digging out a power dril, in order to assemble this. And the table ended up needing additional reinforcement to be stable. The only reason I didn't return it was how heavy it was. I didn't want to pack the table up and carry it to a UPS. So we made the best of it. Save yourself the trouble. ... show more

Don’t buy- extremely poor quality. When starting to use this table, it immediately dented and scratched with light use. The wood is not durable. I wasn’t going to write a review about the dents since the table was still functional but literally one year later (exactly a week after the warranty is over) the table cracked all the way across. Nothing heavy has sat on the table, it just broke spontaneously and the crack is huge and wide with splinters. You are better off buying a cheap table at IKEA that will last a few years. Very please with the quality and look. Bought the used one ,which only used was the box wasn't in perfect condition. The price was lower , then waited for prime day, ended up paying 232.00. Well worth it. Eady to put together and looks great with the rest of my decor.

This table was easy to assemble and looks nice. However, it shakes somewhat in the direction opposite of the pre-constructed legs. Also, the wood is extremely soft. Scratches and deep scars are already visible on the table top from day-to-day usage. I really feel like I'll have to replace it in the next few years because of this, so I wouldn't buy this again if I had the chance. A real shame since my last table from Bassett lasted over a decade. ... show more
