After months of searching and eyeing this coffee table I finally bought it and could not be happier! This is a very solid table and I love the dark brown color as it pairs perfectly with a different set of end tables I bought. The tobacco brown is just the shade of brown I was looking for and the overall finish is truly beautiful. The wood, while soft for sure, seems to be very good quality. I love that it has drawers to store things as well. The instructions were easy to follow and while assembly did take quite a while, it was well worth it. I assembled it myself and from start to finish (including carefully un-boxing and double checking everything was there) it took me about 1 1/2 hours to assemble. I made sure to take my time and be extra careful and while somewhat tedious (this kind of thing always is) it was well worth it. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and cannot wait to enjoy this table for years to come.

It took two people longer to put together than others stated in their reviews. It is very heavy and sturdy. Our old table had a larger shelf space but we rarely used it. This one has smaller shelf space but has two drawers that enhance its use. Unfortunately, it had two scratches on the top, when we unboxed it. They appear to have been painted over at the factory. That is the reason for the 4 star rating. The quality control person should have noticed that and rejected the top piece. I am keeping it as they are not that visible.

I own an entertainment center from the same line and its a run of the mill cheap build it yourself piece which has been ok. I bought this because it hypothetically matches- It does not. There is a huge variation in wood grain size and stain color in addition to random style and hardware differences. So if you're looking to match between pieces look elsewhere. The construction is very poor, I've already had to reassembly the drawers because of the laughable bottom plywood. I would not plan on putting more than a handful of light items in the drawers, I'll build a custom bottom brace for mine just to make it usable. The first item i received came with stripped out screws on the prebuilt portions and damage to the surfaces. After many emails with the seller they lead me to believe they would send a replacement part and then after requiring document, photos, and forms they said they were out of parts and I should return it through amazon. On the amazon return I have to return the old unit. This is an over 100 pound assembled piece of furniture, it is ridiculous that the vendor couldn't send a replacement part and just as bad that they want the old one back since they can't. To put a cherry on top, the replacement came with (different) stripped screws and surface damage, It wasn't as bad and I'll just live with it. Amazon made this a less horrible experience by providing a discount and arranging a ups pickup but I cannot recommend this product.

I got this table in tobacco brown. The table looks great, nice dark brown finish, good size, and pretty easy assembly (I did it by myself in about 1.5 to 2 hours). It's sturdy and I love the design and the drawers open/close very smooth. BUT I should have listened to the other reviews. The table arrived damaged, with a very large crack down the middle of the top piece. I contacted Simpli Home as directed in the included paperwork, and they said it would take 8-10 or more weeks to get the replacement top! So they suggested I return it to Amazon and have them send me a new one. Unfortunately, it was out of stock on Amazon by then (not to mention I would have had to go through the hassle or re-packaging all the little pieces I just unwrapped!). So I told Simpli Home that I would just have to wait for the replacement part to become available. Within 2 days I got an email saying my part had shipped and within a week it was delivered to my house! (In one piece and very well packaged, I might add). One other down side is that the wood is rather soft and can dent easily. There are actually quite a few 'imperfections'/dents/scratches on various parts of the table that I didn't notice until I was putting it together. Nothing super-noticeable, but I guess you get what you pay for (I got this table for $200), so I would definitely call it a good table for the money.

I really wanted this table to work out because I liked the style and look, but unfortunately, both our original order and replacement had issues. The Original: It wasn't too hard to assemble, but when we got to the drawers, several of the pieces had cracks where the wood had split (several inches long) at the holes that had been drilled into the wood. It looked like someone tried to fill some of them in with wood fill. Other pieces had dents/scratches in the wood. I wrote the company about it, and they said they'd send me a replacement for the 4 pieces that were damaged. It took over a week to get them (they literally moved one state per day all the way from the west coast to the east coast), and when we did--they didn't send 4 pieces, and the ones they sent didn't fit the drawer bottom (the slit to slide the drawer bottom into was too small)! I called about this, and they said they'd have to investigate--that took several days and calls on my part just to be told the pieces they sent were correct and we'd have to send it back for a replacement. We sent it back. Replacement from Amazon: For starters, the drawer pieces in this were the same as we had with the original--meaning the replacement parts the company sent previously were 100% not right for our table. This table also had scratches--including on the tabletop! It looked like some (but not all) scratches had again been filled with wood fill. I'm sure there were other issues, but this was such a distressing experience that I blocked out most of it at this point. We didn't even try to assemble it--inspected all the pieces first, saw the issues, and back out to Amazon it went. What a waste of time and effort. This table is very similar (identical) to one sold under other names and brands at many other retailers--I debated trying one of them, but this experience was so off putting, I didn't want to try a third table. Yes, I'm aware this is a relatively inexpensive table, but you'd at least expect that the pieces wouldn't have been doctored to make them look like they were okay and that replacement pieces would be correct. I personally wouldn't want to have a table in my home that had scratches on the surface and wood fill in places, but if you're interested in a table that does the job of being a coffee table for maybe 3-5 years max and has a nice overall appearance (though likely susceptible to your own normal wear and tear), then maybe this is right for you. If you care about quality and want a table that is in good shape/quality for more than ~4 years, I'd shy away. Good table for a first apartment for someone just out of college or a young professional if you're okay with the fact that there are likely to be many flaws in the wood. I ended up purchasing a Pottery Barn coffee table instead--obviously, it cost three and a half times as much because they have their flat rate delivery--but at least I can trust that the table will be in pristine condition when it arrives (and good customer service to fix issues correctly) and excellent quality and durability for years to come.

This coffee table is superior to others I've owned that were assemble yourself! It was so easy to put together and I did it all myself in about an hour... senior disabled person! All of the instructions were very clear and the pictures were accurate. Each piece was labeled front so there was no chance of putting it together wrong. The cams came with plastic sleeves on them so you didn't hurt your fingers screwing them in, and the locks went on with ease and tightened perfectly. This table is sturdy and durable. The wood was solid pine as described on the Amazon page, and the gray wash is just enough to make the piece interesting and rustic. The knobs that came with it were described as antique brass, which they were almost pewter colored which I much preferred to brass. They even made the bottom accessible so that you can even change or tighten the back decorative knobs if you need or want to. I like that they designed the back to mimic the front, since that is seen by the people sitting on the couch... great example of what attention to detail is included in the design of this table. The shelf in the middle is only about 4 inches so you can't really use it for much other than magazine of book storage, but that too is ok with me as I have a great many HGTV magazines! The drawers are very wide, but only about 4 inches deep, so I think they are great for storing remotes, but I'm not sure how else you would use them unless you stored dvd's or cd's laying down. All in all this is the best piece of DIY furniture I have ever owned, and intend to buy the matching pieces as I can afford them. I got this on sale for $174, and to me it's the best bargain on Amazon I've purchased so far, and I've been shopping here since 2000. I have included a phot, just remember I replaced the knobs that came with it. HIGEST recommendation!!
