This coffee table is amazing. I got the 48" Umber Brown version and the color and finish are quality. A couple things I'd like to highlight that maybe others haven't 1 - This is heavy, it is all of 90 pounds and is difficult to move without 2 people because of it's size. I could slide it on the carpet to get it where I wanted but I needed help to maneuver it around. 2 - The packaging on this is no joke. If this is damaged in shipping you will know it before opening it. You could not hurt this without smashing the outer box because the inside is protected to the max. 3 - The legs are solid, heavy metal, they are not flimsy or cheap. They attach to the bottom in sunk threaded metal receivers, not into the wood, which makes them strong and sturdy. That is literally all that needs to be assembled, 10 minutes. Also, they are not as "shiny gold" as they appear in the picture which was something I was happy to see. 4 - I do not have any issue with the lift top not sitting flush when in the down position. There are also magnets on each side to help anchor it down. When in the up position it is SOLID. I would not be afraid to put anything on it when up. In fact it feels like you could sit on it but I won't attempt that. I've been researching lift-top coffee tables for a while and could not be more thrilled with my purchase and the price. I liked that it was a split lift top because my last one was the entire table top and it stressed the hinge mechanism which eventually broke. I do not fear that here. The storage under the top is rather deep and a nice bonus. I also like that it is solid wood, not some pressboard stuff with a million fastener things. Solid mango wood nightstand that was easy to put together (just bolt the metal legs and you’re done). Drawer is deep and slides open smoothly. Ample open space on bottom half. I bought this to pair with an identical nightstand. Packaging was impressive. All cardboard pieces so easy to recycle. This is my fourth Simplihome purchase. Note one of the drilled holes at the bottom was faulty (not drilled all the way through). It didn’t detract for us though. ... show more

UPDATE: The replacement small lift-top coffee arrived within days of the return, due to the great customer service at Amazon! They began the return before Amazon even received the damaged item! Amazing! The replacement is much better. No "burn" marks and very easy to assemble which is always a plus for me. At first, it was really hard to open and close, but after a few days use, it's become much easier. It does close evenly, but the gap between the lift section and the unmovable section is kinda big, obvious, and not seamless. Still, I'm keeping it because it works for my needs. Simplihome was no help at all. They brushed me off when I contacted them, and only after I posted my the earlier review did they offer to help…. Thank you AMAZON for your excellent customer service! Overall, and theoretically, this is a beautiful coffee table. However, similar to approximately 25% of the reviews thus far, my coffee table arrived damage (with what look like burn marks) in several places, and I have to return it, which consists of repackaging a 60 Lbs plus block of mango wood. Not easy for me… Moreover, I now have to wait for a UPS pickup at the busiest time of the year, with this immovable object in the middle of the living. I plan to repurchase this coffee table, but as another reviewer mentioned, he had to go thru this unpleasant process twice as well. It appears to be a throw of the dice as to whether or not a customer will receive the Lift top coffee table without any weird marks, damaged wood, or missing parts. Fingers crossed, throwing salt over my shoulder and hoping for the best. Wish me luck. I will be back with an updated review and rating once the dust finally settles. I was initially skeptical about purchasing furniture on amazon but this table had great reviews. I've seen a similar table from West Elm that was of much lower quality, not elegant, and double the price. Needless to say my friend's table ended up cracking after a year or so. This mango wood table has very pleasant smooth finish unlike the West Elm one. The lifting mechanism is a bit stiff giving me confidence it will last. The West Elm (Industrial Storage Collection) over time became loose and could move when light pressure was applied. This table looks amazing in our space and appears very high quality - I was looking at a much more expensive West Elm option and opted to try to save some money with this one (super happy with the decision!). It did arrive with one of the lift springs disconnected which was a huge pain to reattach, but otherwise would have been easy to assemble.
