I was pleasantly surprised that the bookshelf arrived well packed in cardboard and foam with no damage. I was nervous snout all the parts being included, but everything was included, plus a bag of parts labeled ‘extras’ which I didn’t need. I was nervous about misaligned holes and difficulty assembling, but everything aligned perfectly. I was also nervous about sturdiness, but it seems very solid with no bending or wiggling. The instructions were included and clear and the teak brown color was just like the online pictures. There is a highly visible and impossible to remove large warning sticker on the inside side panel that I wish was not there. At the price I wished the panels were not made of short pieces of wood, it cheapens the look in my opinion. It smells of the wood finish which isn’t too bad and should go away in a few days hopefully, but the finish seems to wipe off with household cleaners, so I use a damp rag only. ... show more

I bought this bookcase over a year ago, and I was so impressed and pleased with it that I bought a second one when I needed more book storage. The quality of this product is excellent. It is made of real solid wood, not the sawdust-glued-together "engineered wood" that you see in most knock-down, assembly required furniture. This product is also very well designed, both in how the parts go together and how it looks when finished. It does take some work to assemble, but the instructions were very clear and it was about as easy as it could be to assemble. They even include an entire bag of spare hardware, just in case something is missing or gets damaged or lost. I have never seen this done with any other product. This is a very sturdy and durable bookcase. I feel confident in loading it up with heavy books. I wouldn't feel quite so confident about this with the cheap particle board junk. You will pay a little more for this bookcase, but you will get a lot more in quality. It is actually a very good value. I have put together a number of component furniture items in the past. Some from a well known Swedish retailer. This product is in an entirely different league. The wood, although comprised of pieces is very solid and much stronger than particle board or MDF. The fastening components are a bit more robust and heavier than the typical furniture fasteners. The instructions are clearly explained. And as other reviews have commented, they provide spare parts for all of the fasteners. That's a nice touch. In summary, whereas a number of furniture component makers seem to start with a price point, then deliver as much or as little quality as they can, or as they can get away with, this product was designed to a high level of quality. Overall, I like the look, color, and design of the bookcase. It is heavy. Takes two to move. It is solid. But much like bamboo it is assembled and fit together from short slats to make up the wood and, for example, the overall shelf. I never made it so far as to assemble the bookcase. Unfortunately, my box and half of the pieces (7 in total) came damaged. Little pieces also broke off. You can see all of this in the images. I am currently working with customer service to rectify the issue. I cannot comment on their customer service yet. They do ask for a lot of information and specifics. Of course, they need images. You also have to track down your order number, item/model number, item/model name, parts number, batch code...ect. Which they need and I understand. But man, it sure is a pain. I cannot image trying to ship this thing back. Once you unpack it, I'm not sure how you would ever repack it back in the same box with the same packing materials. I'll update as things progress. UPDATE: It was as much of a pain as expected. We needed two but had to order four. We cobbled together two whole, unbroken book shelves from the pieces/parts of four. That also means we had to return the two broken sets. What a pain it was to re-pack. Did I mention how heavy, unforgiving, and unwieldy they are? Not to mention the less than stellar boxes we had to ship them back in. Lots of shipping tape was lost to this endeavor. ... show more

Good quality, but as corner piece in the back of bookcase appeared to have been broken during manufacturing, and it was "fixed" with a metal staple, which then broke apart when my husband was putting the bookcase together. That is my only complaint. I am not happy that I received a broken/defective bookcase, but its too big and heavy to return. ... show more

I would give this review 5 stars. The bookshelf is beautiful and super sturdy and well crafted. My only complaint is that there is a warning sticker, and a label on the inside of the bookshelf that will not peel off. I tried to peel them off and the stickers just ripped and left a mess. It can be covered by a book, but if you didn't want a book there, you would see the stickers. ... show more
