I am very pleased with the '8 cube' storage unit that I purchased. It arrived extremely well packaged and completely undamaged. All of the pieces and parts necessary to assemble the unit were included, as were some 'extra parts' of the hardware used to assemble it. The assembly directions were exceptionally clear, and the various bags of parts and pieces of wood were labeled with numbers and letters corresponding to those used in the instructions. The pieces of wood also had small 'arrow' stickers to designate which side should face the front of the unit. Assembly was not exactly 'a breeze,' mostly because using an allen wrench to drive in screws is a somewhat laborious process, and there were many such screws to be driven in, but the design of the unit would not permit any other method and it simply took a little while to get all of the screws firmly in place. I was able to assemble the unit without difficulty and without needing anyone else to assist me in the process. Once fully assembled, the unit is very sturdy and also quite heavy - the 37" x 57" size that I purchased weighs about 60 pounds. The wood is all 'solid wood' - just as advertised. It is I think 'clear' or 'number 1' grade pine - no knotholes in it. I read one review that referred to the wood as 'very soft'. Pine is of course a 'soft wood' - but it is not particularly 'soft'. One might easily dent it with a hammer, but it would take some considerable effort to dent it with 'a fingernail.' The unit is an excellent solution if you have a large number of LPs to store, which was my purpose in purchasing the unit. It would work equally well for LaserDiscs, if anyone is still storing those these days. The unit also looks attractive, and I would call it a very good value for the money. I have only one small complaint - which I direct to the manufacturer of the unit. Placing a warning label on the unit about the dangers of 'furniture tip over' makes perfect sense, but placing such a label in a location that is visible after the unit is assembled, and using a glue that makes the label difficult to remove, seems to me 'over-kill'. If your attorneys have advised you that such a practice is necessary to fully protect you from liability, I think you might consider obtaining a second opinion about that. ... show more

First, shipping. It was very well packaged. The outer box suffered some minor damage, which has gotten to be pretty routine, given our stressed supply chain. However, the inner packing was very well thought out and protected the product very well. Second, assembly. Basically, went well, given 2 hours and too little skill on my part. The directions could have been a little more clear, as most of us do not assemble furniture for a living. Unless you follow/read the directions very closely, you could mess up the vertical slats. Regardless, it went together well. The materials/hardware were complete, even shipped with extra hardware!! Miraculously, the holes all lined up and parts fit as they should. Can be put together by one person. Lastly, finished product. Very solid bookshelf that looks great. The wood is solid and color/surface consistent with no blemishes or defects. It appears to be quite sturdy. I noticed that the manufacturer recommends relatively light loads and no TVs, but my uneducated opinion is that it should take reasonable weights. It certainly takes being loaded up with books, as I have done. I think our over litigious society has produced an over cautious manufacturers mind set, especially highlighting the risk of tipping. A tie-down strap is included. I will say there is a fairly strong oily/stain odor to the bookshelf, which probably reflects being packaged and shipped very soon after production. Hopefully, that will disappear quickly with time. If you are very sensitive to such odors, you might have to store it in a garage, or hallway for a while before placing it in your living room, or bedroom. My final verdict is that I am quite pleased with this product. It certainly looks as good as the finished bookshelves you can buy from name brand stores. At my stage in life, I am over salesmen, their commission hype and brand name stickers on questionable products. This is a good product. ... show more

Finding a reasonably priced vinyl record storage furniture is not easy. Especially, traditional looking ones. I could have gotten a cheaper Ikea Kallax. But that one did not match our traditional living room furniture. When I read in the reviews that this can hold vinyl records, I researched the dimensions. It is a bit pricey for a bookcase but it can be re-purposed with some work. First, there were some issues with quality as the legs were not even. I had to place furniture leg adhesive pads to make them level. Also, a few of the screws underneath tend not to latch on. I had to add screws to make sure the installation was sturdy and I added wood glue as well. I did not install the divider in the top middle as I needed to place my integrated amplifier in it as well as other components. I found a similar looking and longer shelf in one of my old cabinets, so I used to as a shelf for a component. Given this is designed for books and not for hi-fi components, the depth is shallow. So, I had to remove the back for the cables. Overall, it is decedent. ... show more

It came broken in three places - I fixed it my self. Lots of glue and clamps. Shipping was hard on it. It looks ok. Easy directions.
