When I am outside and in need of sun protection for my face, I ALSO usually have my hair up in a bun on top of my head and out of my face. This makes wearing cute sun hats very difficult! For years I have struggled to put my hair in a low bun or ponytail at just the right spot at the nape of my neck to accommodate stylish floppy sun hats, and I have never wanted to wear the golf-style sport visors. This sun hat is very much like a visor where the top of the head is left uncovered. I bought it as a gift after a loved one described how they didn't like normal sunhat because it would cause their head to sweat and be uncomfortable. I like that this will provide sun protection while allowing the top of your head to be exposed. That helps keep from overheating and sweating, but then also does not protect you from any bugs or dirt that might get into your hair. In most areas you won't be using this year-round, so it's nice that it rolls up for storage as well. ... show more

Listen up ladies! It's high time we all knew that sun protection is the number one wrinkle-preventer alive. Also, an added plus is a much lower risk of developing skin cancer. Who knew, right? (We knew!) I love the look of the floppy sun hat, but all the ones I've tried have been, well, floppy. They are sturdy shade-givers for maybe a few uses, and then they just flop. Useless and annoying. This visor is so flexibly sturdy! I can kind of guide the sides to where I want them to be with little bends here and there, and they stay where I put them. It protects my skin and keeps me feeling a little cooler in the freaking devil heat we've had in the last couple of weeks here in Ky. I even wear it in the water while I'm floatin, and the back gets a little wet but dries very quickly. No dirty lakewater smell either. There are so many color options. I chose the natural-beige one. I also purchased the slightly creamier natural color, but it did not look as good with my hair color or skin tone, so I returned. It did look nice on my sister's much lighter hair though. Also, the velcro bow really makes it customizable to various head shapes. The absolute best feature is its travel potential. Roll it up, elastic, and bam. Fits in basically any bag. In the picture, the elastic is sticking out the bottom, but it is very easily tuckable. My sis was just like "lemme take a pic of ur hair real quick" so I obviously obliged. (Perfect for this review, though, right?!) The only complaint I have found with this is that in one spot on the back left "flap" there is a tiny piece of the plastic straw that sticks out and snags my bathing suit strap, or slightly scratches my shoulder. But I took nail clippers and a file and eliminated the issue. No repeats necessary so far. I've taken it on about 6 lake trips so far, with no issues! Lots of compliments and requests to borrow! Anyway, great price point, well-made, good material, and functional. The size of the shade is also great for me personally. I ordered a couple other brands to try too and they were kind of small and a little awkward-looking. Also I will point out that I was looking specifically for a visor! I didn't want a hat, because I also like to lighten my hair in the summer sun. Also, the visor feature is what really makes the roll-up feature work. I'm sure a hat would be better overall for avoiding heat, but I gotta say, the visor helps plenty! ... show more

I had bought a very similar one years ago and loved it. I never found another one until now. The old one is black so I ordered the khaki colored one this time. It provides a lot of sun protection and doesn’t get too hot because the top is open. It catches the wind, so I attached a string so I could have a loop around my neck and keep it from blowing off while I’m kayaking! ... show more
