UPDATE Jan 2021: I've now been using this soap dispenser for over 7 years. I like it (mostly) and hate it (a little). I still use it. The original pump mechanism peeled badly, then failed after 2.5 years, but Simplehuman replaced the pump (only) under warranty (no charge). That replacement pump has been fine for 5 years daily use. BUT the unit looks terrible now. The container has...not aged well. The silvery part bubbled, or fades, or has spots, or discolored, and did so within a year of use. The original pump was the worst of it, but the new one also has the same issue, as does the silver part of the body. The clear plastic section picks up stains & smudges & scrapes that don't wash clean. It got splashed with a little bit of paintbrush rinse water once, and some of that white paint somehow set INTO the plastic and won't clean off. So it looks far from pristine. But it's still the perfect size & balance... And works with the several consistencies of dish soap I've tried. I'm dropping my rating from 5 to 4 stars. I'd honestly give it 3.5 stars out of grumpiness, but considering I still use the product, I rounded up to 4. If aesthetics are a major concern, you'll be replacing this unit every 2 years. The price here also varies a lot. But at its lower price, compared to other units, replacing it occasionally isn't a BAD investment compared to disposable bottles or other less-reliable units. Simplehuman could do better with the materials. But between a decent design & their warranty, this still seems to be the best option in this price range and remains Recommended (but with more hesitation than before and nudge at Simplehuman to update the material). Original review from late 2013 follows: ------ Three months in, this pump is dishing out kitchen soap like a champ. Great for one-handed use, a single pump produces exactly the right amount of the Ajax or Joy liquid I use. The high capacity means I don't have to fill it often (and can tell exactly how much is inside). The stable (squat) shape doesn't get knocked over, but is still tall enough to be convenient when positioned at the sink's raised lip. It doesn't drip in my usage, though the GF does half-pumps which sometimes drip a little onto the base-- but it's easy to give the dispenser a quick rub+rinse under running water, and have it look like new in 15 seconds. Some others complained the pump was hard to open (to refill), but other than the first time, I didn't find this to be true-- perhaps the lid was redesigned since those early reviews? It doesn't seem to close as "tight" as I expect, but unless you're picking it up by the pump handle (you shouldn't), that wouldn't matter anyway. I looked exhaustively at other products and reviews before picking this one, and this was one of the few modern-looking designs with overwhelmingly positive reviews and a functional design. Other pumps were too tall, overly ornate, opaque, and users reported them leaking, breaking, clogging, or not producing enough soap per pump. I've not had any of those problems with this pump. After three months of several-times-a-day usage, there is nothing I would change about this pump's design. Highly recommended.

This looks good in the advertisement, but it is designed poorly. At first I just loved it, however it's unstable and the whole thing will slip and slide. it's fallen into the sink and the first time it did, boy I found out how cheaply it was made! The dispenser was fun and you all know that dish soap these days are not cheap! Anyways the lid falls off and waters running the soap is slippery and I couldn't get ahold of it in time to save the soap inside.i was left with only 1/4 left. All that money went down the drain! Literally! Bad buy! Not worth wasting your money!

We replaced a dying touch free Simple Human dispenser with this model because we were tired of dealing with batteries and pump issues. This dispenser is extremely well designed, and even elegant to use. It has a single button on the back to open it, you lift out the pump lid and there is a funnel shaped opening for you to pour soap in (brilliant) and then you just plop the pump lid back on to it. Simple. It takes minimal force to get soap to dispense, and it doesn't seem to pick up stains from water droplets. I am very pleased!

After reading the description by Simple Human I thought I would give this a try. I had previously used the sensor dispensers. I wanted something that will hold up. I was not disappointed. Build quality on the 2 units I purchased is flawless. Brushed stainless steel will hold up. All you need is a very light touch on the pulse pump to dispense exactly the amount of soap your hands need for a complete wash - I could never accomplish this with a sensor pump. This will dispense exactly the amount of soap you need consistently each and every time. Pros: No batteries (I was using 3 to 4 sets of 4 batteries per year) No corrosion No circuit boards to go bad No Messey containers No puddles of soap under the spout No sensor misfires by accidentally waiving your hand under the sensor Effortless dispensing Long lasting parts Cons: None Based on what I have seen this appears to be a one and done. This is constructed for longevity and that is what I am looking for. I hope this helps you, for me this is a no brainer.
