I live in an old house that is poorly insulated. The windows are all made from reclaimed windows and each room is a different size. I used to have central air, but the landlord opted not to replace it when it died (and it isn't in my lease) so I needed to switch to window/portable units about 10ish years ago. The layout of my apartment is NOT conducive to air flow. The entrance to my unit opens into a space that I am using as my office. There are two north-facing windows and four west-facing windows, and it is located above an uninsulated porch/stairwell that leads to my apartment. This room is the most unstable in terms of temperature. When I made this my official office space, I ordered heavy-duty blackout thermal curtains to try and keep the temperature more reasonable. I've been pretty happy with them. However... I purchased cat pets that suction cup to the windows and placed them above my desk in an attempt to keep the cats off my keyboard. It works for the most part. But the curtains I bought were too long and bunched up over the beds. Plus... having the windows open keeps the furballs entertained. The brand I used before doesn't offer a shorter or valance option. I ordered this because it would fit PERFECTLY across the two north-facing windows, which is perfect because I only have one rod there. I applied privacy window cling to the bottom of the windows because I don't need to see out of them and they just shine on the back of my computers. Then I hung this from the top of the windows because it hangs just above the cat beds so there is still room for them to look outside while still providing the benefits of blocking sunlight and maybe doing some thermal benefit. However... when I hold this up to the light, it isn't lined and I can see light through the panel. So I don't really see how it is "blackout" or thermal. For the location I am using it, the quality is fine because it isn't an important window. I expect it to get covered in cat hair. The price and quality is fine for my purposes. But... I wouldn't order these for say.... my living room or bedroom. The stitching is crooked. The holes are HUGE like it was pulled too tight when it was being sewn.

Keeps the heat at bay. Great inexpensive solution for above my entry door. The deep navy color matches my other window treatments and these are high quality panels that keep sunlight out and went up very easily on a cheap rod from I already had.

Blocks the light when and where you need it. I used it on the lower part of the kitchen window to block the evening sun when cooking and doing dishes. It's pretty thick and seems made well. Not sure I would say blackout dark but you for sure won't have sun in your eyes. The pocket at the top is big enough for most rods you would use for something like this. Long enough for larger windows but bunches up nice for smaller ones like mine. The color is surprisingly close the picture (taking into account screen representation). Does block the felt heat from direct sun through the window but I would not rely on partial curtains to help with heat blocking overall. If they have a color you like I'd say go for it.

This is just right for the top portion of our large window (72 inches). We needed two curtains to look good. It's thick and blocks out the light coming from the street at night so our guests can sleep comfortably. It looks good closed and pulled back and the color is light enough to add an accent to the room without making it too gloomy. The fabric quality is pretty good but there's obvious sign of defect in the material. Almost like it was sewn in the wrong place and the thread had to be pulled. The stich marks are visible but hopefully they'll go away with the first wash/dry and they won't be visible while up.

we got these to block a specific street light at night from shining into our bedroom, but we can also get morning light during the day and not feel like we're in a cave. These fit the bill! I would recommend these curtains.
