  • Great book for anyone who plays bass guitar
Format: Paperback
This book is great for those who are learning to play guitar. Music in the book is a variety which holds interest to those that love to play. My son has been playing guitar for about 6 months now and his teacher even ordered the book to work with him to gain experience. I highly recommend this book to anyone! ... show more

  • Nice book but not really for beginners
Format: Paperback
This is a well written book with good tabs but not for beginners. As a martial arts teacher I always assume any new student knows absolutely nothing about martial arts. I base my teaching on this. This book while nice does not teach right hand finger methods or proper left hand techniques. It assumes you already know. The tabs while of good songs, are to me confusing. Coming from a classical guitar background, I enjoy my tabs cleaner. Not with the musical notations. The assumes you understand or have a little understanding of timing of notes and these notations are on the tabs. This made it difficult for me to read the tabs. As I said overall it's a nice book but not for absolute beginner. It would be nice to find a dvd or book teaching bass guitar that assumes you know nothing at all about the topic. I've gone through maybe four different ones that really didn't help me at all. I'll hang on to it till later but be prepared if you are absolute beginner. ... show more

  • No Musical or Key Notation
Format: Paperback
No musical notations, just fingering tab charts, so you are not free to see the actual notes being played, just the keyboard finger locations for each note. So, you have to transpose the fingering into actual music score yourself (to avoid copyright infringement?). Since there are multiple options for finger positions for every note on a bass guitar, and 2 1/2 to three octaves, this book sticks you with their preferred fingering. This may be a simplified approach for beginners, but it does not grow an understanding of normal musical notation used in sheet music. I think this is important for those learning the bass who go on to play in ensembles, especially if this music is to be played in other keys. ... show more
