We had an old stove that needed the insulation replaced. This was enough material to line all five sides of the oven box, and have about 2 feet of it left over. It is very dense, and is stiff enough to hold it’s shape when you bend it in the stove cavity. You definitely need a breathing mask, long sleeves, and gloves to protect your skin, just like when you work with fiberglass insulation. ... show more

I ordered the Ceramic fiber blanket for insulation in my home made grill. Works Excellently. I have a large BBQ Grill/Smoker that I made nearly 50 years ago out of 1/4" steel. It works well in mid-spring through mid-fall with temps no cooler than 50°. I have two other smoker grills of different sizes that work well with temperature control devices but are hard to control inside temps below 200° because the charcoal/wood is within 8 to 10" from the meat. My home made grill has the fire about 16 inches below the meat and is easy to control the temps in the 180°-200° rage at the meat level, which is ideal for lower temp smoking. I lined the smoker-grill with the fiber blanket batting and added 1/16 sheet steel liner to keep the fire/smoke away from the batting. No batting (Blanket) exposed to the meats or fire. EXCELLENT insulation. I was able to smoke a turkey to perfection on Thanksgiving when temps were in the 40 degree range in the AM and smoked again when the temps were in the 30's. I was not able to do that before. I also grilled (hotter temps) chicken and beef twice with the internal temps at meat level at 350°+ in 40°- 45° weather without the steel grill being too hot to touch. The batting (blanket) seems a tad thicker than 1" but it is quality made and does well at insulating. I recommend following directions in wearing, a face mask and goggles. I bought this roll to seal around my wood stove insert. It does exceptionally well. There was a lot of material, and one of the best buys on Amazon for the price/quantity. It's pretty firm, doesn't compress much, but formed an excellent seal around the stove.
