  • Amazing
Style: Solis 5G Hotspot
Solis 5g is the best tech investment I've made in a long time. I travel internationally quite frequently and this device has quickly become one of my favorite tech devices that is always with me. Now, I always have internet service when in need of coverage and I don't have to worry about the possibility of not having access to the internet when working remotely. Coverage and speed were amazing. There were plenty of networks and the wifi speed was extremely fast. The ease and convenience of connecting was stress free. I experienced no buffering, you only have to connect your device one time, and it will automatically connects as your primary wifi source when you're in need of wifi. The quality is well made, easy to carry, and extremely durable. The 1gb of monthly data that you receive is a great bonus! I'm extremely happy with my purchase! ... show more

  • Love my Solis Lite!
Style: Solis Lite 4G LTE Hotspot
I purchased this device in lieu of a travel plan with my mobile carrier. The device is extremely reliable. I have used it in France, Argentina, and sent it to Europe with my daughter last summer where she visited multiple countries in three weeks. I never had a problem getting a quality signal. The battery lasts all day and then some. it is pocket sized and easily fits in any shoulder bag or fanny pack. Recharges quickly as well. The app which accompanies it on your cell phone is also very easy to use and helps you keep track of your data and all of your connected devices. I like the device so much I’m actually thinking of upgrading to the 5G version for my upcoming trip to Spain and back to South America this year. The data is reasonably priced, And best of all if you really don’t want to be bothered talking to anyone on vacation, you put your phone on airplane mode, but still have Internet access for GPS, Google, searches, maps, etc. Worth every penny, if you travel! ... show more

  • Worked great for us in the UK and France!
Style: Solis Lite 4G LTE Hotspot
When we traveled in Europe in the past we paid $10/day x 2 phones with our cell provider. Sometimes we'd try to turn cellular on and off on different days to manage costs better. But, either way, it added up really quickly and didn't give us the freedom of always having access to wifi. After doing quite a bit of research, we bought the Solis Lite and a month of Global cell coverage. Setup was easy and because it came with a little bit of data each week, it was easy to test before we traveled. In April 2024, we had a 3 week trip in both London and Paris and the Solis Lite worked great. It was so much faster and more convenient than what we'd done in the past. It's a simple device and fit easily in my daypack. Each night I'd charge it and then it lasted throughout the entire next day, until I charged it again at night. I'm so glad we now have the device for our future trips (and I'm going to loan it to my daughter to use on her honeymoon later this year)! ... show more

  • Only connects to T-Mobile and AT&T so I paid for a worthless brick
Style: Solis Lite 4G LTE Hotspot
UPDATE: The wifi mobile hotspot is a worthless brick. After I bought it and paid a bunch of money for non-refundable data packages, they dropped Verizon as a carrier they support. IT WILL ONLY CONNECT TO AT&T and T-MOBILE, NEITHER OF WHICH HAS USEABLE SERVICE IN MY AREA. And they never told their customers that this was coming, or that it happened! I only found out they bricked my device when our fiber internet went down. I thought... no problem! I bought this nifty device to get me through an outage such as this... NOT! Don't waste your money on this bait-and-switch product. Maybe one of these two carriers work in your location now, but there is nothing stopping Solis from dropping them in the future too. Oh... and offering new buyers of their device "lifetime" free data (1 GB/month) right after I bought mine (I get no such deal) was kind of like them saying "Hey, we bricked this product you just bought, and now we're going to throw the brick at you. Don't let the door hit you on the way out." I guess the consolation is... I wouldn't be able to use the data anyway? Make no mistake, this company hates it's customers. Here's my original view before they bricked their product: We have fiber internet but it goes out frequently and we can't work if we don't have internet. We needed a flexible backup solution for occasional use that didn't lock us in a contract or require high prices for data. And we also wanted a mobile solution that wasn't locked to a single carrier because we have dead zones on our island where not all the carriers work. This product works for our needs. It does need some tweaks, however. At our house the fastest cellular internet is Verizon and this puck doesn't want to connect to it. It either connects to AT&T or T-Mobile. The T-Mobile is about 4 MB/sec (update, now 1 MB/sec) and the AT&T is 0.5 MB/sec. Verizon is over 30 MB/sec. Why does it even connect to AT&T when the connection is too slow to be useful? I can keep hitting the scan button on the device until it stops trying AT&T and connects to something faster, but after a few tries it tells me that I've scanned too many times and I need to wait an hour before trying again. The puck does eventually connect to Verizon if I'm patient with it and keep trying, but there should be an easier way. They really need to fix this with a firmware update. IDEALLY the app would show the user all the signal strengths and let the user decide which one to connect to. An added bonus is a person could use the puck to evaluate what cell signals are best at a location. I know a realtor that carries 3 phones around with different carriers on each because part of his job is to be able to tell clients what carriers will work at a specific address. This puck has all that information- there is just no way for the user to extract it. I know people that would buy this puck just for that purpose. I was able to integrate this puck to my home's wireless mesh by using a wifi to ethernet bridge. This makes the mobile internet seamless to the mesh- no need to configure every device to use the puck because the mesh does all the work. Just configure the bridge to connect to the puck and it's the only device that needs to connect to keep the entire mesh network operational. This greatly increases the range, and the number of devices that can be connected is up to the mesh, not the puck (I think my mesh can handle 99 devices). If the puck could accept an ethernet dongle the bridge device wouldn't be necessary (maybe their product developers will read this, hint hint). At least with the USB adapter that comes with the puck, the puck can power the bridge if necessary. It's a useful device but it needs some tweaks to be perfect. It looks like most of the tweaks can be completed by updating firmware and/or the app. ... show more

  • Appeared to serve its main purpose with some limitations
Style: Solis 5G Hotspot
Pros: Appeared to be able to find and connect to the "best" network, its main selling point, mission accomplished. Portable size and solid build. With soft bumpers around four corners. USB-C charging. Cons: No native IOS application, has to access via web. It does get a little warm. The viewing angle of screen is rather poor, begging for a better-quality display. The charging speed is on the lower side, hooked up with a powerful USB-C charger, it only goes up to 5Volts 2 Amps, maxed out at 10Watt, could be better. As expected, data is on the expensive side. An unlimited day pass of $9 could be good option, or shell out $33 for 10G of popular destination. It basically has four tiers, Global 135+, US, US+Canada+Purto Rico+Mexico, and Popular Destinations, would be nice to have continents/geography-based locations. ... show more
