I cannot ride this scooter board as I am over the weight limit of 220 pounds and I have absolutely no skills when it comes to anything like roller skating, roller blading, skiing, ice skating, etc. but my wife and kids really enjoy taking turns on it. They have only ridden it around the house, driveway, and a little bit on the street but it claims to have an 8 mile range. It also states that it will get up to a speed of 8.5 mph but it doesn't look nearly that fast to me. I would say maybe it gets up to 5 or 6 mph but I think that is plenty fast for what it is. The battery life seems to be pretty good from what I can tell. There are beautiful LED lights all over it and you can definitely see the rider due to all the lights. I will be honest, I didn't even know it had a Bluetooth speaker in it until I went to write this review so I will have to check that out.     • What is that smell?

Out of the box this had a really weird smell. Somewhere between an ashtray and clothes the day after a bonfire. From what I can see there is no wood here so I'm not sure how they achieve this smell. Luckily no burning electronics smell. The unit itself is plenty hefty. The charger does feel a bit cheap but I plugged it in and it seems to work just fine. This looks like it's meant for kids but it is adult sized. I tried it and seems to be able to move 215lb without issue. Still figuring out how to ride it for longer periods but it starts up fine. Reading the other reviews no one seems to notice so maybe I got a faulty unit but this thing smelled for the first couple days. Really fun and priced well but if it smells like mine did you'll probably want to vent this for a day or two. ... show more

    • AWESOME hoverboard!
My son absolutely LOVES his hoverboard. Not only is it his favorite color (blue), but it has bright led lights in the front, and red led lights in the back, very similar to a car. This helps with him with being able to see the ground while also being visible when the light isn’t too great outside. The charge lasts a decent amount of time and my son has yet to find anywhere where he CAN’T ride his hoverboard. The movement is fluid and easy to learn with the pressure-sensitive plates that your feet stand on- Move your feet forward and you go forward, back and you go back. The LED lights in the wheels are a plus too making the board look really cool and futuristic! The material it’s made of feels sturdy and solid and can hold up to 220lbs, so even adults can share in on the fun. My son will have tons of fun with his hoverboard for years to come. ... show more

    • Lots of fun!
First, about me: 70 years old, 144 pounds. I have never used a hoverboard before. It's a little tricky to get on: when you put on the first foot, it starts to move before the second foot is on. I found that once I'm on, staying straight up is best, not like you seen on-line of people flailing around and falling. Once I got a little acclimated, I was able to move around my kitchen, and even turn around quite easily. My feeling is that it takes a while for your brain and body to get in sync with the board, just like riding a bicycle. Some notes on the instructions that accompany this excellent board: they are crummy. Nothing showing the on/off button or charging port (although they're easy to find), or where the charging indicator is. Nothing about the Bluetooth. And I was a little perplexed at first as to which way is front and which way is back. Bottom line: I really enjoy this well built hoverboard. Highly recommended. ... show more

We had these when they first came out years ago. And yes, they blew up from battery problems. So, I was happy to get this new and improved one. 220 Pound weight limit... YAY Long battery life Blu tooth speakers... that's fun App for you phone... way cool This is great for kids and adults alike. Makes a great gift. Works inside and outside too. I'm impressed with how far these things have come. Just be sure to wear a helmet.... cuz you know... ... show more

This sure takes some time to learn. It's pretty cool, though. The kids have gotten a kick out of how to get it to work. All of them from the ten year old to the 22 year old take turns on it. BOTTOM LINE: 1. I recommend this SIMATE scooter/hover board. 2. The current price of ~$110 is reasonable. LIKES: - Great design. - Somewhat easy to balance on, but still requires plenty of practice. - Heavy and well made. - Easy plug in charging. - Lots of lighting features. - Built in speaker is nice, but I'm not ready for that level of distraction yet. - Safety certifications to remove battery concerns.
