The soles are durable and thick, with plenty of grip. Rocks, sticks, and other debris have not caused any issues for me and the bottom of my foot in these. The fabric top is very loose and fits to your foot very well, but it's thinness won't protect your foot much if you kick a rock or log with the top of your foot. Very lightweight and does not impede me when I swim. If you have a wide foot, consider a size larger as the sole is completely flat and your foot can bulge over the edges. Otherwise, a great purchase that makes me feel secure when going in rivers.

I was hesitant to spend the small amount of extra money on these vs buying some cheap pair from Wal-Mart, but I'm so glad my wife convinced me to. These are hands-down the best water shoes I've ever owned! A 'hack' with what to do with the excess string after you've tightened them is to wrap it back around your heel, then 'attach' it to the tongue tag thingy vs shoving/cramming it down into the left or right of the shoe. I definitely recommend these shoes, they are AWESOME.

I purchased other water shoes from Amazon because it was inexpensive but those seem to fail the slip test when walking on rocks or flat wet surfaces. This product is a perfect balance between comfort and grippiness. Used it at the beach, lake, cave diving in Mexico. Tho I wouldn't recommend it for hiking. I purchased this for my parents and I trust it for them to not slip. I wear a size 12 and I ordered a size 12. I could go smaller just to get it snugged but true size is fine. I wouldn't know if a half size would be a better fit but I am happy with the true size I ordered. It did not slip off.

These water shoes are perfect. Comfortable enough for walking. Fit is great. I bought two pair one for myself and my husband for vacation. They are very light weight and dry quickly.

These are very thin so don’t expect any support or anything. I use them to walk around swimming pools to I don’t ruin my flipflops or other shoes. The soles are also thick enough to prevent your feet from burning on the hot pavement (useful in AZ for instance or at a Mexican beach. Speaking of beach, these are not very nice for the beach because the sand gets in there immediately and that is not nice at all - chafe city Anyway I lost mine in Hawaii and liked them enough to get a second pair. Great shoe that is built very well. It's comfortable even though it runs a touch large. I would suggest sizing down one. The soles really protect your feet and are comfortable. They provide great traction and stability on dry ground.
