Pretty good set, but it does not come with a 15/32" which of course is the one I needed to hold a 29/64" Drill. The rest of the collets work great in any ER-20 Collet chuck. I Use them in an R8, and straight shank collet chuck and the fit fine.

When you get your set, check all the individual yellow containers. The size marked on the individual container might not be the collet size in the container. My 1/16" container had a 3-4mm collet inside. My 19/32 had a 21/32 collet inside.

    • Half missing and too much runout

Half of the sizes were missing. Still had 26 pieces in total, but most of the sizes had duplicates and even a few triplets. I had to return this. I could have lived with a couple of the 32nd sizes missing, but what I got was missing the common sizes like 9/16", 5/8", and 3/4". The picture shows the 12 sizes that were missing, 8 duplicates, and 2 triplets (sorry I had poor lighting and should have laid them out better). I tested a few of the sizes that I did get and I was not impressed by their accuracy. Most of them had between 0.002" to 0.006" of indicated runout and they were not repeatable. I'd chuck up a precision ground rod and at first I'd get about 0.004" TIR. Removing and re-chucking the same rod it would might go down to 0.0015" or up to 0.005". I think I did manage to get one bar chucked in at about 0.001" TIR, but only after piddling with it for a few minutes. As a sanity check, I indicated the taper inside my collet chuck and read about 0.0004" in the front and back with the high spot on the same side... meaning that it was off center that amount but still parallel with the spindle. Even if I had received all the sizes they advertised, what I received was nowhere near the advertised 0.0005" runout. Completely unacceptable for collets. I should have known what to expect, but I took the gamble anyway. I ended up returning these and ordering some from LittleMachineShop. Those actually stand up to their stated specs. ... show more

I didn't have very high expectations at this price point, but this is kind of absurd. The packaging was very good which was that much more baffling. They were chips still in the collets, poorly bored holes, incomplete slots. Decent price for scrap metal, but the edges are not even deburred so they don't lock up without galling your part. They can be fixed if you have 12 hours with a file and a lot of patience, but I did not even bother checking these with an indicator, there was visible run out and some could not close down because of chips in the slots. ... show more

A high quality chuck with all the right sizes that were promised, as well as a reminder about their 100% satisfaction guarantee. Came with a brochure that asked to be rated on shipping speed, item description and communication. Shipping speed was impeccable. I used the free (not prime) shipping on 5/17 give the system a day to process and that means 10 day shipping. That's pretty impressive. Was a bit skeptical about the quality for such a competitive price - was mostly concerned about the runout. Have to say I was VERY pleasantly surprised. Using 0.001 indicator, measured the runout on 2 randomly selected collets. Runout was virtually imperceptible. Would need a .0005 or .0001 indicator to give a specific reading. The only negative is the etching of the sizes on some of the collets - not very deep, a bit off-center and some were pretty small. Not an issue for me now as I quickly built a simple plywood holder to keep them organized. ... show more
