Functional, it will stop an arrow shot from 20 yards away with a 48 pound compound bow. The arrows bounce but are not damaged. It is very heavy which could make it difficult to setup. I was lucky that I had a good place to hang it. I think it is very durable and should last a long time. Note the pinhole created by the impact at 20 yds. Every impact is another arrow that did not get lost in the woods. Worth the investment.

I had read reviews and decided on 5x10 45pound backstop. Got back into shooting 45 pound recurve and ha a few arrows miss and go into a neighbors yard. (I was horrified) Got the backstop hung up and took a few intentional shots and the material stopped my arrows. Pleased.

I bought the 5x10 rated for 65 pounds and quickly figured out that in order not to puncture it you have to shoot very dull field points. The standard dart style points will poke through even from a 40 pound recurve at 30 yards. The field points i had amazing success with I found here on Amazon for very cheap, they're called New Archery Products NAP Bullet Field Point. Even at point blank range from a 52 pound recurve the arrow just bounced off and left a dimple. I promise this thing will work beautifully with those field points.

I bought this as a back drop mainly for my kids so I wouldn't have to search for arrows as often. I was messing with my 20 yard pin and let my intrusive thoughts win. I let one loose to the bottom right with my bow. (For those wondering its a Hoyt AX3 33, 31inch draw at 72lbs draw. Shooting ~477grain Vap TKO arrows) I realized it was a bad idea when I did it and expected to blow right through it. Imagine my shock when it actually stopped my arrow. It did completely ruin the veins, I had to cut them half off to even get the arrow out. Which stinks but thats what i get for doing stupid things. Over all im pretty impressed would recommend for all parents to set up behind their kids bows or even adults who shoot a lower pound bow.

I hung this up with one end attached by carabiner to my backyard raised deck and the other to a ratchet strap to a tree trunk. I use a 45lb recurve and it stops my arrows nicely. My only complaint is that the metal eyelet around one of the cord holes came loose very easily, but it still functions fine regardless.
