I love the fact that this wood is beautiful and when put together will be very sturdy, but multiple pieces were cracked/chipped and the whole top shelf required gluing and repairing (because there is no way i can pick up this huge heavy box it came in to return it). And the best part is that the “x” shaped piece on the back that goes behind the top two shelves...is missing. We have taken this box apart and looked thru it all and it just is not there. Strange thing is i cant figure out where in this box it would have been if it was there, because there does not even seem to have a place for it in this box?!?! So now will have to see what my 2nd one like this looks like when i get it tomorrow🤞. It can be put together without the X, once all the repaired/glued pieces dry but it will look ridiculous without it, especially right next to a second one that has it hopefully! Amazon was wonderful as usual and sending a replacement ***update**** i am now on our 4th shelf and still dont have enough correct parts and undamaged parts to make 2 complete bookshelves. (One of those never arrived and “got lost”). I love the shelves but I am just completely exhausted trying to build these over the last month and am going to settle for just having one since cant seem to get a second one built!?!?! My husband and i have spent hours and hours making these and only one was successful. 🤷♀️. Sadly, I ordered a ton of Bush office furniture and Put together a large desk/hutch/file cabinet in way less time than this stupid shelf. The difference is the office furniture was packed well with lots of styrofoam and the pieces werE protected. The bookshelves were just thrown in the cardboard box so i can see how all these edges and corners got damaged in normal shipping-there was literally just the one layer of cardboard protecting it. So, dont waste ur time trying to build these with the wrong parts or damaged parts and the time it takes to discuss with customer service and the hassle and frustration. It is sad they cant pack these better-its a beautiful bookshelf! ... show more

I cannot express how much in love with this shelf unit I am ...... I am a huge fan of Ashley furniture anyway, but this is just beautiful ! I put it together myself and it did take about 3 1/2 hours . There's a few wood screw holes not drilled but they went in super easy. Other than that it was pretty easy. I love the look and aesthetic of the collection. However, this bookshelf was a terror. One of the framing pieces had the holes drilled wrong... so none of the shelves lined up. There were also a handful of screw holes that weren't pre-drilled. And a piece arrived broken. Support was extremely difficult to get (Amazon wanted me to re-package the whole thing - impossible - and Ashley Furniture reps told me to go to Amazon). Finally got a hold of the parts website ashleyfurniture.parts. I was able to re-order the bad pieces. It looks fantastic. But assembly... pay someone to do it for you. ... show more

05/21/2024: I ordered two of these through Amazon, and as others have stated, they were damaged upon arrival as seen in the pictures. I have only assembled one so far, and assembly was very straight forward and easy if you have any mechanical aptitude. Others have stated that the are missing holes. I would like to say that the only holes that are missing are for the couple of wood screws that you have to use. There is a reason for this as the dowels are loose and this allows you to get everything aligned and consistent once assembled. We will see how good their customer service is and I will update once I have contacted them. Overall, the cabinet looks very nice. The one major complaint I have is the use of cheap Styrofoam in their packaging. A lot of that damage issues could have been prevented if they would have spent a little more money and used Polyurethane packaging material. However, I did only pay $299/ea. for these and shouldn't expect a whole lot of quality control. If you do not want to deal with this, spend the extra money and buy some quality Amish furniture, although it will cost you over $1k for a similar item. 05/23/2024 UPDATE: I did find the Ashley Replacement parts site. As long as you have the serial # off your product, you can request replacement parts at no cost to you. This went easy enough for me, so we shall see if I actually get them. ... show more
