  • Love this Desk! Bought 2 for a Special U-Shape Configuration
I absolutely love this desk. I originally saw them on Target's website for TWICE the price! I bought 2 of them to make a U-shaped configuration that works in my upstairs landing. For my space, I couldn't make use of the 2nd x small return. I didn't have room for it but I did need the 2nd x big piece of the desk and was able to make use of the extra glass top from the 2nd short return, so it worked out wonderfully. I made one desk with a left return. Then on the right side, I pushed the 2nd x longer piece up against the right side to create a U-shape desk. I had an extra Ikea white cabinet in my craft room, so I positioned it at the end of the L-Return of the main desk. I used the extra glass from the 1 x unused short return and put that on top of the Ikea drawer. This way it looked more like was part of the actual desk and it's just a bit shorter than the rest of the desk top, which actually works really well and looks good too. What I love: - It can be a L or R return desk. So many desks I've found have the return on the wrong side. **Note that because it can be a L or R return, the side you don't use will have 1-2 holes exposed in the metal frame. I had these glossy white circular shaped stickers from a marble-look bookshelf I bought on Amazon for the same office space. I just used those over the holes and you can't even tell now. - It's a tempered-glass top but also not see-through. The white film underneath helps the desk feel light and airy but more solid than something clear, which I didn't want. Once the top is on, it has a bit of a sea glass color, which is very pleasant. **Note that because the tops are solid, there are no holes for cord management! I was reminded of this by reading another review but decided the rest of the desk worked so well, I'd figure it out. I positioned it in a way that I could hide my cords against the wall where my desk was placed. On Amazon, I bought this neoprene cord cover material that is black on one side and white on the other. I used velcro strips to organize my cords as normal. Then, wrapped those in the neoprene cover. This helps mask the black cords. But do be mindful of this depending on where you plan on positioning your desk. - You can use the glass top as a dry erase board. I use my 2nd larger glass piece for this and it's wonderful. In my upstairs landing, there is no place to hang my glass dry erase board on a wall, so this is a great alternative. - Pretty easy to assemble. As with any assembly, just be patient and make sure you're using the right screws during the correct step and it's fine. I used a power drill with a drill bit that worked. Then used the little Allen wrench that came with the screws to manually tighten a bit at the end. I'm a 42-year-old woman and I did it myself without too much trouble...including lifting the glass tops onto the desk. The glass stays on top with suction cups that you press into the top of the metal frame. They're heavy but if you're reasonably strong and careful, it's obviously doable. I DID have to get my love to help me carry the glass up the stairs...needed his extra muscles for that. We opened the boxes downstairs and I brought everything upstairs for assembly. One of the boxes came literally with a gash in the back of the box that had torn wide open. Luckily it was packaged very well inside the box, so nothing was damaged. These desks have transformed my workspace. It feels so much more spacious and open than the wooden desk I had here before. ... show more

  • Struggled so you wouldn’t have to:
For those not born with significant strength or talent, do not have friends to help or merely don't have enough Tinder options to trick into helping you, this is for you (and for those of you wondering, yes, I do take advantage of the free labor market -- and you should too). Feeling pretty confident at the moment that I've mastered the Dummy's guide to putting this desk together. For the following instructions, do not attempt on a carpet. I tried so you wouldn't have to - and it was an epic failure. The surface is uneven, and using a harder surface ensures that your coffee won't be sliding off due to the 45 degree angle its trying to balance on. I moved mine to a hardwood floor. Also, as always, do not tighten anything until your done. 1. The manufacturer provides decent instructions on this, so just follow along with theirs and literally do everything opposite of what they tell you. Place (C) and (D) on the ground, belly up. Put the tabs of (E) into the holes of (C) and (D) but DO NOT put bolts in. So, to clarify, flip the manufacturer's diagram upside down, and every time they tell you to put a bolt in/tighten, don't. 2. Place (A) x2 on the ground, legs up (upside down of what manufacturer shows you). Clearly the person writing this had a flourishing social life because if you're weak and alone like me, I assure you doing it their way will result in all metal pieces tumbling down on you. Yep, fairly confident in that statement. 3. Next, place the letter-H looking like piece you just made in step (1) onto (A) x2, belly up and with the holes facing up. Again, If you are aren't as popular as the manual's author, doing this face down while attempting to hold both (A) pieces AND simultaneously placing step (1)'s deliverable on top (and aligned) is an emotionally bruising task. Also, for those perfectionists out there, the breakdown that will occur due to your inability to make the unit straight their way is not worth it. 4. As you tighten the letter-H from step (1) on (A), physically step on (C) or (D) respectively to ensure the piece is absolutely level with the ground; literally put all of your weight on it. Continue to slowly tighten the bolts in increments moving to the opposite & diagonal side as you tighten it. From experience, this requires the least amount of strength to tighten the bolts because the bolts will be straighter when going into the holes (and thus aligned). 5. Lastly, tighten the bolts from (E) to (C) and (D). 6. Next, again, do exactly opposite of the manufacturer's instructions for step (3). Place (G) and (F) belly up and place (B) upside down with legs up. Tighten the bolt before trying to find the matching hole on (G) and (F) - makes life way easier. Next lay down on the floor upside down or at eye level to the floor and find the hole as you screw it in with your fingers (don't actually tighten it, just get it to lock slightly). 7. Next, find a wall that your contractor did a moderately decent job on and is as good as a 180 degree angle gets. Push the side of (G) or (F) against it so that it is straight, and also step on it with as much weight as you can. Proceed to tighten the bolt as you keep it straight against wall and flat against floor with your weight. This will ensure that (G) & (F) are both perpindicular to (B) and parallel to each other (in other words, the desk will stand straight on floor and will have a straight surface for glass to sit on). 8. While the only logical next step would be to tighten each bolt slowly and in increments alternating between the two, don't. Just don't. After the moral defeat your about to have, you deserve the instant gratification. Just go nuts (pun definitely intended) with this step, tightening one side at a time. Oh, also, unless you have a hallway that is the exact distance of (B), you'll never get both sides of (G) and (F) at a 90 degree angle (perpendicular) to (B) by tightening the bolts in small alternating increments. Lean each one against a wall at a time so they are both straight. 9. Next, have a smoke. The initial moral defeat and the following instant gratification result in a very omnipotent euphoria. 10. Proceed using the logic above to assemble the rest of your desk! ... show more

  • Best computer desk I've ever owned.
Tempered glass is thick and strong. Plenty of work area. Strong. Sturdy. Product was simple to put together, but make sure to put it together upside down and do not tighten any of the bolts until the end. MUST get help lifting the glass on the top. I used the REFLYING Under Desk Cable Management Tray, No Drill 2 x 15.7 in Steel Desk Cable Management Tray with Wire Organizer system. Wow - sharp. Not a cable in sight. Also ordered the Laura Davidson Furniture Stockpile 3-Drawer File Cabinet for Home Office Commercial-Grade One Size, White for a perfect storage unit under the desk. I'll store UPS in there plus miscellaneous paperwork. Just ordered a second one for the wife's workstation. ... show more
