I purchased this lens in August 2019 and have taken almost 20,000 pictures since its purchase. I primarily used it for bird photography with Nikon D850 putting it on a tripod or handheld with aperture wide open at F4. I'm highly satisfied with this lens. The pictures out of this lens at f4 are tack sharp almost all the time as long as the objectives are in focus. I also like the customer setup functions which are not offered with a name brand equivalent lens costing almost twice as much. The lens is heavier than that of the latest name brand. I quickly outgrew my Tamron 150-600mm sport lens as the detail was just not there for me. After reading many reviews I jumped on the Sigma. It saved me $4000 versus purchasing the Nikkor 500mm f4 E and I would bet I could not notice any discernible difference in sharpness between the two on my Nikon D500 (I have no real in-field data to substantiate this though). This is a formidable lens and a strong competitor to the equivalent Canon/Nikon 500mm f4 lens for almost half the price. Anybody considering a 500mm prime should take a close look at this lens. Image quality is subjectively comparable to the Nikon 500mm f/4, feels very well made, focuses quickly, good features, and overall quite impressed. Not a cheap lens, but compared to the competition, it's definitely a big winner for the price. Pairs well with the 1.4x Teleconverter. This is one excellent piece of glass, I highly recommend it to anyone. Sigma hit it out of the park with this one. Sample photos included, taken with a D500 and D850.

Im so pleased with this lens, I bought it 2nd hand and its been a revelation! So good to get my first serious f4 long glass and not have to pay the huge Nikon premium... works very well with D850 also. :-)
