I purchased lens after my Sony 55-210mm e mount lens quit me. Finding a long telephoto lens with image stabilization was a must in my search as the Sony a6000 and a6400 cameras I use have no IBIS. The Sigma 100-400mm f5-6.3 DG DN Contemporary e mount fit my needs perfectly. I have to say that this lens is much larger than I had anticipated and I will be definitely adding a lens collar in the future. The sample images I took with my a6400 were very sharp across the frame @ 100mm f5 and 400mm f6.3. This lens did struggle a bit to find focus in heavy shaded areas on a sunny day but I knew that going in and willing to accept this limitation at a $900 price. This lens is also limited in close up magnification so not great for macro by itself as other tele zooms offer. In testing this lens with macro extension tubes remedied that problem. Just make sure your extension tubes have contacts so the communication between lens and camera is not interrupted if you want to maintain auto focus and stabilization. I also tried an Olympus Tcon-17x 1.7x teleconverter on the end of the lens with help of a 67mm-55mm step down ring. Sample photos were crisp at 100mm and 400mm with no noticeable vignetting. There was some blue fringing on a few shots. Something that the Olympus TC is known for and can be fixed in post. I own other Sigma lenses and this lens lives up to the quality and value I've come to expect from Sigma. ... show more

The lens itself is great. Instead of the cleaning material and SDcard I would have included the adapter that fits on the lens that allows the lens to be supported by the included monopod. People buying this lens have most of what they need. The lens, adapter, pack and monopod would have been the right combo. Everything arrived quickly. ... show more

This is the lens I needed. I am using it on a Sony a7II. It fits perfectly and I am still able to shoot without a tri- or mono pod even as a women with smaller hands. I also have a travel camera with a 35x zoom capacity, which beats this lens on closeness of the object, but the quality of the pictures are no match with the Sigma. Sharp, sharp, sharp! Now I am looking forward to my wildlife watching travels, fully equipped with great tools! Btw: Thank you Beach Camera for the awesome accessories, I love them all! ... show more

Former pro photographer. I've shot with Canon, Nikon 35mm film, Medium Format, and digital DSLR's for many years. Now I shoot mostly birds and wildlife. Got tired of lugging around bulky DSLR's with huge telephoto lenses that require $2K worth of tripods and gimbal mounts and related mounting plates etc, or using my SUV roof and a beanbag to stabilize the body/lens to get consistently sharp images. Always use 3rd party lenses because the big name brand long telephotos (400mm and up) cost as much as a small car. This Sigma lens on a small mirrorless APSC Sony body gets me out to 600mm with half the weight of my Canon DSLR and a 150-600 zoom. Autofocus is fast and it will track a moving subject with Sony's excellent tracking capability. Is it as sharp as a $12K+ 600mm prime or a $2K Sony 200-600mm, probably not, but at under $1000 it's a bargain. It has focus lock, range selectors, lens lock, and optical stabilization. With some post processing image detail is quite good, and shooting birds at 400mm I'm likely going to crop anyway. Most importantly, I carry the whole setup mounted and ready to shoot everywhere in a small backpack, which I would not consider with my former DSLR equipment. Overall this lens works well for me, and for budget minded shooters who don't have unlimited bank accounts to pay through the nose for top quality Sony or other big brand name lenses. ... show more

Great Lens for the reasonable cost. On apsc a6400 gives me equiv of 600mm. Included accessories are nice and helpful too. Easier to carry than the big bazooka Sony 600mm. Glad I bought this Sigma 100x400mm.

Was hesitant at first but was a quick convert. Fast autofocus and good tracking. Used for nature and landscape photography. I consider myself an intermediate photographer.
