Used this bag on a trip to India. The various pockets that lock in different ways were great and so handy! The exterior pockets are a bit hard to get in and out of quickly, so I just ended up either leaving one unlocked or mostly using the interior pockets for wallet/valuables. I loved the fold over option for the top. Giving you a small sleeker feel, but being able to get large enough to stuff a jacket into when needed. Frequently carried inside during my travels: - small water bottle (8oz or so) - my small wallet (coin purse size) - passport (inside RFID pocket) - large sunglasses with case - travel hand lotion - bug spray/lotion - pill case - tissues - wet wipes - large wallet (ended up carrying for friend because I could secure it) - small lightweight jacket / pullover - clipped to outside: hand sanitizer & pepper spray - various souvenirs purchased on trip Pro Tip: used the chair lock wire to secure my travel pillow when running through the airport. ... show more

The Vale is even better than I hoped! I wanted a travel bag that was unobtrusive and not too large, yet could hold maps, a guidebook, water bottle, phone, iPad mini, charging cables, snack, wallet, and the day's smaller purchases. The Vale fits the bill and more -- plus looks great too. This bag holds far more than I expected. It is light yet incredibly durable; even cute -- and surprisingly classy in a modern way. No bulk! Sleek enough to roll up or lie flat in luggage or a tote, my bag is carbon black with a cheerful bright lime green lining that makes it easy to find items deep inside, even in poor lighting. It offers LOTS of invisible and unobtrusive security features! These include integral RFID blocking, slash-proof bottom and strap, a security cable to allow locking to a chair, and clever zipper loops that if utilized, help deter would-be pickpockets. The two straps can be reconfigured so the Vale can be carried as a shoulder or crossbody bag, or as a tote. It can be flapped over if not carrying much, or the straps easily reconfigured in seconds to convert it to full size. Like the other reviewers, I can't say enough good things about this incredibly versatile bag, which works for everyday as well as travel. I bought this bag a few weeks ago and I love it! It is practical and lightweight which is great for every day. It has two exterior side pockets with anti-theft protection and is very spacious. The cross body strap is extremely comfortable for all day use. I am more than pleased! Thanks!

I love this company: all materials are eco-sustainable, washable, and easy to use. I had a smaller Sherpani tote that was a hand-me-down and I've used it for several years. As I grow older (70s) I need more things in my bags but didn't want a heavy tote. This has enough pockets outside and inside to make it easy to carry my ever-present water bottle and all my other necessities. This bags color and design looks more sophisticated and easily goes as either long strap or short. My daughter saw it last week and was totally impressed!! She's a bit of a fashion maven and I enjoyed her reaction very much. I highly recommend Sherpani products for all ages that need more than wristlets for holding a cell phone. ... show more

    • The Only Travel Bag I Will Use
I bought this for a recent trip to Barcelona and cannot recommend this enough. I was worried about pickpocketing on our trip and the safety features allowed me to keep my phone, pocket wifi, passport, and wallet within easy reach but secure. The multiple straps work beautifully and switching from handbag to crossbody is a breeze! I was a little concerned because the bag didn't come with shoulder pad and wondered if it would get too heavy/uncomfortable on my shoulder, but the bag is well-balanced and extremely comfortable.
