Description

The bustling market in Nottingham is filled with goods from all over the kingdom. Most of it is entirely legal, however, Prince John is looking to make sure no contraband gets sold. He’s tasked the Sheriff to inspect Merchant’s wares, looking for any illicit goods. The Sheriff’s shrewd, but not above taking a bribe to look the other way. Which Merchant will end up getting the best goods through and make the largest profits in the market stalls? In Sheriff of Nottingham 2nd Edition, players take turns playing the Sheriff, looking for contraband goods, and the Merchants trying to stock their Stall with the best goods. The Sheriff can inspect any bag they want, but they must be careful, as they’ll have to pay a penalty if they find the Merchants were telling the truth. The bags used for hiding merchandise are super frail and almost all of them have broke after minimal use. Fun game but breaking these bags is inevitable and after 1 or two games you may start to lose them.

I had seen this game on Wil Wheaton’s show and it was entertaining to watch. I finally was able to get a copy and tried it out with my elderly parents, husband, and teen cousin. This game was hilarious! It was also funny because the rules did not translate well to my mom who said she had 2 bread, but had 5 cards. And it was deliciously fun to pretend to be smuggling and burning my cousin and husband. My dad liked the smuggling and he has sleight of hand too - a whole ‘nother level of game. He’s getting good at playing his role of “too old can’t hear or understand what you youngins are saying”. The teenager, I thought would be good at the lying part, couldn’t keep a straight face and clearly needs work on reading people, and who doesn’t value a game that teaches life skills? And the sweetest part is the understanding between a mother and daughter and clearly letting one or the other get off with a discounted mother/daughter discount. I highly recommend this game. It’s okay if you don’t play it perfectly; it’s the memories you make that matter. ... show more

The baggies seem delicate so we didn’t button them with each use. Really fun game. Quick to learn with simple rules. Each game takes no more than about 30 minutes with 3 players. It really depends on how fast you make your moves. Lots of fun!

This has been great fun. It’s great thinking of ways to sneak things past the sherif. Laughs all around. Pacing is good and it’s easy to learn. Only limited by your poker face and your imagination.

The game is fun and moves at a good pace, we found a flaw after playing only one time, If you simply are honest the entire game you will almost certainly win, it sort of took the fun out knowing that the strategy was that simple, if there were some rule in place to prevent this I would have given 5 stars, I will still play and enjoy the game, just wish the glaringly obvious flaw was accounted for ... show more
