  • The Perfect Wheels for Cruising?
I've been using these wheels almost exclusively for about 5 months now. Let me say, these are probably the best wheels you will ever cruise on. At 70mm they are a great size for going over cracks, bumps, and generally anything that would otherwise stop you. At a 78a durometer, they are soft enough that the ride is considerably more comfortable and stable than your standard longboard wheels. Combine these with the sine wave shape of these wheels and you have the smoothest ride you could hope for on a skateboard. These wheels are fit for rain and shine. Though your bearings might object to riding in the rain, these wheels certainly won't be the reason you would stop. The aforementioned combination of shape, size, and softness means puddles are no longer a threat to you. Additionally, since these wheels are so smooth, it means that you can achieve great speeds even if your bearings are totally ruined. (Side note: these wheels are absolutely great for downhilling since they can give you such high speeds). On the note of speed, these wheels give me some of the best speed I've ever had while skating (and that's across multiple different types of bearings). Now, I'm not sure I'm comfortable saying they're the fastest wheels you'll buy, since honestly, the speed is comparable to any wheel of a similar size and durometer. What I can say, however, is that the shape of these wheels gives them the edge over any traditional wheel. My reason for saying this is that I have 70mm, 80a longboard wheels that I used before these and they would get tripped up by the usual suspects: pebbles, twigs, crosswalk bumps, some of the gnarlier sidewalk cracks. With these wheels having a sine wave shape, these objects (obviously with the exception of the more severe obstructions) are no longer something to be feared. They will simply give you a bump, or just get thrown out of your path by the sine shape. As for grip on the road, Shark wheels have an exceptional grip on surfaces, even in wet conditions. You will feel minimal, if any slippage at all while you speed through parking lots, sidewalks, and just about any other hard, even-ish ground surface. Now, these wheels have only a couple shortcomings. These wheels make the claim that they can go through gravel, sand and water. Like I said, they can go through water reasonably well for a wheel, though the deeper puddles (ones that are high enough that they make contact with your axle nut) will definitely cause you to slow down, if not bring you to a sudden stop. The same can be said for gravel. Small bits of gravel spread apart won't be much of a problem but larger bits could definitely be a danger to you. As for sand, the advertising is misleading. You wont be shredding through the beach any time soon. Any patch of sand that's maybe a foot or less could possibly be suitable to go through, but any longer than that and you're probably better off walking. Aside from those, the other false claim is that these wheels can slide. They are definitely not made for sliding. At 78a they're just too grippy to pull off any sliding with ease. Even after wearing through them for 5 months they still don't slide well at all. Aside from those critiques I really don't have any other negative thoughts on these wheels. Overall, I'd give these wheels more recommendation than any other wheel I've used. I only wish Shark would come out with a larger wheel than 70mm just for an even smoother ride. ... show more

  • Way better than stock tires
Color: Lava Size: 72mm
These offer a smoother ride while also handling bumps better. It's not magic, so if you ride on really rough roads you'll want to get padded grip tape as well. They spin very smoothly and are easy to install. They don't seem to wear terribly fast either. they also just look cool. WORTH THE MONEY

  • A must for your board!!
Color: Orange Size: 72mm
While on vacation, I road tested these wheels on a demo deck while my new board was being assembled ( I purchased a new longboard in St Petersburg Florida this fall). I was somewhat sceptical about these wheels but while road testing the demo board, I intentionally aimed for a sizable pile of rock/gravel on the road just to see what would happen. To my suprise, there was no wheel stop or binding, the rocks were pinging out of the way and I never lost momentum. I tried it again and the result was the same.... I was blown away. On the clear road, the ride was smooth without having to push as much as I normally would. I road back to the shop and had the Shark Wheels put on my new board immediately, I was literally sold on them right away. Since my return to Alaska from my vacation, I am replacing the old wheels on my boards to Shark Wheels , these wheels are nothing short of awesome. Buy them, you will not regret it. ... show more

  • Performance Surprised Me
Color: Clear Black Size: 72mm
I just put these on my board I use while camping, going to the pit toilet on really bad roads, these wheels are going to awesome. I just took a trial run in the rain (new bearings too) and these wheels are phenomenal for what I intend to use them for.

  • Initial impressions
So first off, my wheels weren't supposed to come until Monday the 5th, I got them on Saturday the 3rd! Mad bonus points there, in fact I started this with 3 stars, I'm going to bump it to 4 for speedy delivery. Now I was pretty sure I ordered the yellow "amber" set, I got the purple which was the first color I looked at. Eh the Yellow would have gone nicely with my yellow bearings but Purple is my favorite color so its not that big of a deal, and honestly could have been mine or Amazon's fault. moving on like other reviews I have to agree that the "unfinished" look with the nubs or whatever on the inner wall is a little off putting. It makes what would be a very mean/aggressive/cool looking wheel and it wrecks it. Like seeing a total hard-body gorgeous person then they smile and their teeth look like a homeless crack addict who hasn't brushed since they were 4. No matter, its the inside, so once they are on the deck no one will know but me. I installed and rode them last night for a short while. Its early to tell, I would need at least a few days of riding them and trying out going over little rocks and stuff to see if they do what they should. Cruising my street and down a hill they seemed fine, decent grip and response. The package says they offer more speed. Well it took me 3 extra pushes to get down my hill last night, I chalked that up to the bearings I bought, so I guess to test this I need to put the new bearings in my old wheels and compare or my old bearings in these wheels. Because something slowed me down significantly. So I'll have to update later when I've had more of a chance to get acquainted with them, and tested this claim. Initial impressions: Nice colors, interesting design but needs a more "finished" look. Grips good and rides smooth, but not sure if it helps or hinders speed. ... show more
