These vases appear to be exactly what they claimed they would be. Two hollow, book-shaped ceramic flower holders. The Good: They arrived in good condition, and the finish looks good. They have a decent weight to them, for as thin as they are. The Bad: They are very narrow, by necessity. I am concerned about their ability to stay standing under any kind of unbalanced weight. I'm thinking specifically of the weight of flowers. If you aren't very particular about how you place the flowers, it could easily lead to a top-heavy and unbalanced load that tips the vase over. This is a hypothetical concern at this point, so by itself wouldn't be worth a star. The Meh: There's a little bit of a lip on the inside of the opening that makes the opening that much smaller. It's going to be annoying when it comes time to clean this out, as it makes it that much harder to get any kind of cleaning tool in there. Overall, I'm satisfied with this set of vases. I look forward to seeing them in use.

I love reading and knew these would be perfect for my shelves. I was drawn to them because of the color and the finish, and they are just as the pictures present them. The book pots are rather narrow but stable enough to be used as decor. I would probably use them with silk flowers or something lightweight like bookmarks or pens. I might be a bit hesitant to use them with real flowers and water for fear a bump could tip them over. Just as the book pots are narrow, the openings are as well. There are limitations to how much you can put in there. Additionally, cleaning would be some what difficult with the use of real flowers. Overall, the book lover in your life will surely enjoy these. I did!

Set of two books, one 8" and one 7", that can be stacked or used as vases. You can use them for other things as well. Nicer than expected and packaged very well. Anyone who loves to read and has a book collection will love these as a gift.
