  • Amazing for $100 with only one small fault
Color: Black
These are going to be my first dip into pro-ish level in ear monitors. When it came to other iem's that I have tried, I have only ever bought consumer level in-ears and some of the budget oriented monitors from KZ like the ES4 and ZSN Pro X. This is actually my first Sennheiser as well so I was rather excited due to the company's lineage and experience. Inside the box was nicely laid out and came with everything I needed. The only gripe I had was the little "bag" that was meant to hold the iems in. It's one of those "snap bags" but instead of having a magnetic clasp to keep them closed, its just two bits of stiff plastic that keep it closed by simply being rigid, and if you want to open the bag you push in the sides to snap it open. They really should have included a zippered bag of some kind because that would have been simpler. The comfort of the monitors is simply great. They're small and could fit into most ears and the stiff over ear hook can easily be bent into any shape to fit any ear. Some might not like the wire design but I think it works out just fine. One very important thing to note about the silicone and foam ear tips is the cylinder of foam on the inside. Please take care when switching out tips because this foam is CRUCIAL to keeping the sound profile right. Yes, even though you can swap out the tips for more comfortable ones, you will have a VASTLY different sound profile due to the lack of dampening foam. Also, be sure to double check the nozzle itself because it too has some foam inside. For the most part, just be careful when switching tip sizes and use the cleaning tool to orient the tubes of foam so they sit correctly inside the nozzle and ear tips. I know it sounds like a hassle, but once you are aware of it, there should be no issues. For the sound quality. I have to say that these things are well balanced with some boost in the trebles that add a bit of brightness to each song. Snare drums and cymbals sound a bit more forward, but this is where the small fault comes in. There will be some songs in which the "S" and "T" sounds from vocalists will be a bit harsh, but not unbearable. Think about how recording a voice sounds like without a pop filter and you will get the general idea of what I'm talking about. This doesn't mean the sound is totally bad, far from it. It's just a warning that some tracks with certain lyrics will not sound the best unless the mastering of said track is a bit warmer. I have tried many genre's with these monitors and I will say all of them are pleasing and detailed. Even the bass is well tuned and you can get a nice thump, nothing that is head rocking and muddy but good enough. I will say that these do fit within the pro range and have a rather flat curve, in spite of what you might see on some frequency response graphs. I will say that minus the occasional shrill tracks you might run into, these will fit most, if not all genres of music. In the end, these are indeed pro level in-ears that you can get for a mere $100 and they will not disappoint. If you want to hear familiar tracks in a different way, I would recommend these. But also be sure that you are listening to a good source because the clarity of these in-ears will reveal badly recorded or low quality sound files very easily. A definite must-have for music enjoyers. ... show more

  • A Gamer's prospective
Color: Red
TLDR at the end. I am no audiophile. I listen to my music on spotify and I'm content. if you are here looking for a review about how these sound for music, and monitoring instruments, feel free to disregard my review, as I am going to be talking solely about gaming. I bought these because I read a review saying these were great for FPS games and I was looking for a competitive edge. The IE 100 pro are VERY comfortable. probably the most comfortable iem I've ever worn. They sit deep in my ear with no issues with the silicon ear tips and the foam ones. I often find myself touching them to make sure they are still seated in my ear correctly because SURELY something sitting in my ear canal should feel at least a little bit uncomfortable, right? Well, these disappear into my ears and the cable rests gently around my ears and I forget they are there. They sound perfectly fine for music and podcasts at least in my opinion. My issue is, I used them for a few days playing games like call of duty, the Dark and Darker playtest, counter strike, but mostly COD. I was struggling to tell where footsteps were coming from. it was a little easier with less going on, but if there's gunshots and grenades going off I can barely hear any footsteps. I've tried changing the in game sound profiles and I think it helped a little but I was still losing people behind walls and just felt lost. it was a struggle trying to determine if there was an enemy above or below me or on the same level, and if they were directly behind me they sometimes sounded like they were right in front of me. I started thinking to myself I must need to just get used to them, but no. After I swapped these out for my old Tin audio T2 iems, it was like night and day. I was able to tell if someone was upstairs. If someone was behind me, I could tell they were behind me, but also HOW FAR they were! I was able to track people's footsteps so much more accurately and the imaging and soundstage of the Tin T2s painted such a better picture of the space around me in game. if you want to get the IE 100 pros for music, editing sound, tracking instruments on stage, these are great, because that's what they were meant for. If you want a REALLY comfortable IEM for use at work while you listen to podcasts or your pop/punk music playlist on spotify, these are really great, and that's what I'll be using mine for. But if you think you wanna get these for an in game advantage over other players in FPS games, look elsewhere, cause this ain't it chief. TLDR: These IEMs are really comfy and play music and podcasts just fine for everyday use, but their separation and imaging leave much to be desired. IEMs that were $30 cheaper were better for FPS gaming (Tin T2). ... show more

  • Way better than comparable Shures
Color: Clear
Great sound, comfortable and sturdy. These are the best IEMs at this price point without a doubt. Do NOT waste your money on the comparable Shures IEMs which are an over decade old design.

  • All I can say is I'm blown away!
Color: Clear
I work from home and use earbuds to listen to music while I work. I'm not an audiophile, but I was raised by one and appreciate a quality headphone. Over the last 25 years, I've purchased all manner of earbuds/headphones, typically going for the best reviewed ones for around $100-$200. The IE100 Pros are my first IEM and all I can say is I'm blown away! To my 40+ year old ears, these are easily the most incredible sounding headphones I've ever heard. They have incredible detail and resolution! I am hearing things in the recordings I've never heard before. They even make voice chat calls clearer. They also have a solid but not muddy bass. The high end is just a tad sharp/sizzly. Have always liked Sennheisers, and these are truly next level for the money. I'm tempted to get the IE300s. ... show more

  • !! Recommend for reference listening
Color: Black
The treble is sibilant with slightly more emphasis than any other frequencies. Mid Bass is strong, sub bass is not as satisfying, due to its 10mm dynamic speaker. Mid is well balanced, and vocals are clear while in the front. On the other hand, ‘S’, “T” vocal sounds are slightly too sharp. Not bad, but not my best recommendation. ... show more
