  • Clarity, Detail, Volume, finally the search is over.
Style: e865-S
Wow! This Mic is what I've wanted. Its detail, clarity are insanely fantastic. Its louder and does cut through music. I play acoustic guitar and sing, so basically the voice is on display. It captures every subtle flicker in my tone. Which when singing an Acoustic set is necessary for impact. I have a Smooth/Baritone voice. Its best for when u need to hear every nuance. Like ballads, or very personal songs that require emotion through hearing everything. This makes me sing Better because u have to when u hear everything. I felt like i was always pushing for this type of vocal but never getting the detail with a handheld mic. Rarely does something do exactly what it says it does. This actually does exactly what it says it does. I wrote this so others wouldnt have to wonder and buy a bunch of other mics like i did. When in reality this one is "the One." Also i wanted to say another good Mic for Male Vocals is the MXL V67. Those 2 mics are my absolute favorite mics. I own about 8 mics of different varieties. It rejects surrounding noise. ... show more

  • Great mic for a soft voice
Style: e865-S
I am just a singer, so I can not give you all the technical pros of this mic. I sing with a big band, and I have had a hard time competing to be heard over the horns. After refusing to "eat" the community mic, I bought the Sennheiser E835 for my personal mic to eat, and it seemed to help a bit but there was still the issue of my too-soft voice. This year I upgraded to the E865S and WHOA Nellie -- during sound check for the first show using this mic, they had me sing as soft as I possibly could, and I was barely whispering out sound and it was full, rich, and warm. That has never happened to me with any other mic before. I'd also had an issue with feedback (mostly because they had to turn me WAY up to hear me before, and I still had to plug an ear to hear myself over the band), but with this mic there was no feedback at all, which was honestly the main reason I purchased it to begin with, after reading all the reviews. I figured I would just have to build my voice up to produce a louder sound myself, but with this mic I could sing comfortably and still be heard over the horns. Definitely a big step up. This mic allows me to sing as I really sing without trying to force more volume, which in turn allows me to give a much better performance, I think. And I didn't have to plug an ear, either. ;-) I am super-pleased. ... show more

  • Best Vocal Condenser Mic
Style: e865-S
After being frustrated with various other microphones. I decided on the Sennheiser e 865s. "The clouds disappeared and the heavens sang". This is an excellent vocal mic. After many years playing and singing, I have been through many varieties of mics. This one is a keeper for sure. I have used many other vocal mics and some were even the very expensive types. I am talking in the thousands of dollars microphones. But this one had escaped me. I had read many reviews and decided to click the "buy" button on Amazon. Good price, and free delivery by the next day. I tested the mic and all seemed good. The next day I had a gig. I set the mic up and all went well. I had been getting awful feedback from the other mics. This one had absolutely no feedback. I generally sing and play medium rock and blues songs. So vocals are important in the blend of the music and vocals. The gain buttons on at about 50% and the volume buttons are about 60-70% levels on my PA systems. I have push it to the higher gains and volumes and still no feedback. This is a condenser vocal microphone. So you will need "phathom power" to generate sound. To get the best sound quality you need to be close-up on the mic. It does not pickup good sound from being away from the center of the mic. It is a "supercardiod" mic but close up is best. This is good because it tends not to pickup ambient sound which adds to feedback. The sound is smooth and clear all the time. I decided on the e865s, the S means it has a "on and off" switch. Yeah I was "gun" shy, so I wanted a quick off switch for potential feedback, so far I have not needed to use this feature. This mic is sturdy and feels and looks like a "Dynamic" mic, but it is not. The louder you speak or sing the better it gets. It comes with a mic stand adapter and a carry storage bag. I would recommend storing in the bag when not use. Also buy a "pop" filter to protect it from vocal moisture as well. I will probably buy another one at this price. Even a "used" one would work well. Excellent product from the Sennheiser. I have their other products and are also excellent investments. ( Disclaimer I am not associated with Sennheiser in any way.) Signed "Happy Vocalist". ... show more

  • Never could get it to work with my system
Style: e865-S
It may work for you but it didn’t for me. I have a pretty nice karaoke system and my current cord and microphone are similar. The mic fit my current cord just fine but would produce no sound. Ive ordered several and had the same result…no sound. Not sure what the problem is.

  • 3rd Party Seller — Glisten and Shine — came through with good customer service.
Style: e865-S
This mic failed. Only used it once and when I plugged it back in a month later, nothing. Sent query through the app. It took a while to sort out, but bottom line is the seller, Glisten and Shine, gave me a full refund, restoring faith in customer service of 3rd Party sellers on Amazon.

  • Make sure your sound system has phantom power
Style: e865-S
I bought this microphone for the church, but I didn’t realize that they did not have Phantom power to use this microphone so I had to return it .Sennheiser is a quality brand .
