  • Don't Keep It In a Moving Vehicle
Style: ES2 Color: Dark Grey
I kept it in my car for too long and it was unsecured. So the innards must have been bonked because it is now throwing errors codes and I can't charge it. So good by to $300 I spent? Well trying to fix it I bought replacement screws and bought the wrong ones. Making that mistake cost another $25 for shipping when the bag of screws is like $10. Before these issues, it was great. Works, lights and rolled along flat ground amazingly. No hate for this scooter. ... show more

  • Great Commuter Scooter
Style: ES2 Color: Dark Grey
This scooter is perfect for me. I've had it for over 100 days and I've ridden it for over 200 miles and love it. It does exactly what I wanted, and seems to be fairly durable. I'm a 230 pound male who often carries textbooks and laptops with me, so I'm impressed with how well the scooter is able to handle the weight. Extremely easy to fold up and bring with me into stores and shops. My smaller female friend would struggle to carry it consistently, but for me it's fairly easy and you can also always push it as well. Its range maxes out at 8 miles for me (despite saying that it has a 15 mile range in the app - I assume this is due to my weight and me riding it at max speed most of the time), but I can easily bring it with on city buses, which increases its range immensely. The usual speed is about 10mph for me, getting up to 15 on slightly down-sloped areas and up to 18mph down a hill The scooter struggles up hills, even on the max speed mode (and refuses to go up them if not on max speed mode), but is generally still faster than walking. If you hit a bump in the road, the shocks are not great and the scooter will make a loud clack sound that may disturb others around you, so try to ride on smoother roads or learn to hop over sidewalk height changes. Kickstand is also very loud and will make a clack noise when put up (not down). It's not ideal over snow and ice, but also doesn't immediately cause you to slip and fall. I live in a place where it snows but plowing is good, and it has been able to handle the patches of snow (I've never fallen), but is clearly a little more unstable on them. App works great. Has a guard mode that forces the scooter to stay on, but it only locks the wheels and beeps a little if it starts being ridden. (It would be very easy for someone to just pick up and walk away with it, even with guard mode on.) So I recommend locking it down if you're going to leave it outside. App allows you to change the lighting effect and colors, set your max speed, set a charging limit (to save battery life over time), set the imperial/metric system, toggle whether it goes into cruise mode and set the energy recovery amount (I don't quite know what this does yet). It also allows you to track a trip which uses up a little more battery but does GPS tracking along the trip, showing you where you went fast or slow, how far you went, and how long the trip was. I really with the trip feature also showed you how much scooter battery the trip used up so you could better plan future trips, but it does not. They also updated the app while I've had it, so it's unlikely it's going away soon. Also, the scooter doesn't need the app to run, so even if some day this company goes out of business, your scooter will likely still work despite being tied to the app. ... show more

  • UPDATE: IT GOT WORSE the road to hell....
Style: Segway Ninebot ES4 Kickscooter Color: Dark Grey
UPDATE 8/30/22: IT GOT WORSE! i got a replacement, and after about 2 months of riding, it started throttling and beeping while charging... the batteries were not drawing power at the same rate, the external battery disappeared from the app and the internal was drained. when charging, it beeps until the until internal battery was charged to about 50% or got close up whatever the external was at, then the beeping would stop and they both charged together. got a SECOND REPLACEMENT, AND THEY BOTH ARE DOING THE SAME THING NOW, IN ABOUT 100 DAYS , THEY BOTH THROTTLED TO 13MPH AND WON'T CHARGE CORRECTLY, and makes the scooter useless and dangerous, you can't even just take the external battery off and use as the cheaper es2. segway solution is seems it to them and they'll take care of it... and send a replacement if they can't repair.... did I mention the replacement FAILED THE SAME WAY?? this is a KNOWN issue to segway, BUT THEY JUST KEEP SELLING THEM AT TWICE THE PRICE I PAID 2 YEARS AGO! I have 2 useless scooters and no way to commute for the MONTHS IT TAKES SEGWAY TO REPAI/REPLACE. DO NOT BUY! DO NOT BUY! DO NOT BUY! DO NOT BUY! DOOOOOO NOOOOTTTTTT BUUUYYYYYY!!! UPDATE 10/6/21: the rear fender AND brake just cracked and fell off the scooter at a red light. the lights stopped working, and the somehow the battery became disconnected? i started the repair process in JUNE and they got back to me right away and sent out a return label. unfortunately i wasn't able to pack it up for shipping (no tape) and let time slip by (thanks pandemic!), so by the time i was able to get tape about 3 weeks had passed and i wasn't sure if the label was any good anymore, so i tried to contact them... this is where everything else went to hell - they told me the label was no good and they'd send another- then, they didn't. then i decided to try chat again and i find out SEGWAY WAS MOVING FROM TEXAS TO CALIFORNIA AND WASN'T ABLE TO TAKE REPAIRS AND TO WAIT A WHILE - so i emailed to ask how long and got no response so i left it alone for 2 weeks. then i checked back in and someone had responded the next day (EYEROLL PLEASE) and now no one was responding. FINALLY someone answers my email and asks for my shipping address again, so i give it, and nothing..... so i chat again, and guess what? THEY DON'T HAVE PARTS OR REPLACEMENTS! so they have no way to tell me how long they'll have the scooter before anything can get done; so they said they'd refund the thing. great, except they sent a new label with an rma that said i could track the repair, and now no one is responding to my email asking "how long for the repair" or "am i getting the refund they said i'd get" so i'm not sending the thing to have it held hostage. WHAT A CRAP SITUATION WITH SEGWAY! i missed the ENTIRE SUMMER because of this bs. i had a lot of fun when it worked and wasn't falling apart. i alsmost killed myself in a human scorpion back in february, and it was still worth it - now it isn't anymore. the worst part is that i purchased the extended amazon warranty but it doesn't kick in until the manufacturers' warranty expires and that means letting segway ignore me for another 2 months. notice my original review also complained about customer service and i guess that's a pattern. ↓ the es4 came locked at a 5.8mph speed limit in all 3 modes. customer service is a joke, they know resetting doesn't fix this problem, but they keep telling you that anyway. i get the feeling their cs is reading a manual and have no idea what they're talking about. they tend to encourage you to replace it like the next one won't have the same problem. I'm probably returning not replacing specifically because i can't risk a replacement going on the fritz after the extended warranty amazon sold me runs out because i don't trust segway ninebot customer service to be able to help after its too late to return/replace. too bad too, because i do like the scooter i just need it to do what it advertised. ... show more
