The Sea to Summit Ultra-Sil Compression Dry Sack provides an ultralight way to maximize dry storage for backpacking, hiking, and bike touring. Manufactured from 30D Ultra-Sil Cordura nylon, and a 40D nylon air permeable/waterproof base that allows air to be pushed out, without water coming in. Its reinforced waterproof seams are double-stitched, and tape sealed, with reinforced stitching at stress points; 2,000mm waterhead (the higher the waterhead rating, the more waterproof the fabric). The secure hypalon roll-top closure features four straps for even compression. The Sea to Summit Ultra-Sil Compression Dry Sack cylindrical shape has an ideal height-to-width ratio for easy packing. A patent-pending field repair buckle can be replaced in seconds with a Phillips screwdriver. Dry bag available in five sizes: 3.3 liter, 6 liter, 10 liter, 14 liter, and 20 liter, to carry everything from small essentials to group gear. It is well made, functional, and kept the hammock dry during a bushwhack down a creek with multiple crossings, one swim, and a pounding thunderstorm with hail and epic rain. The bagged hammock fit in the XS size nicely and compressed down to a compact bundle. I like it. I just bought another XS, and in addition one of the XXS for a planned kayak trip I have coming up. I have no issues with straps twisting, loosening, or anything else. This is a piece of lightweight/ultralight gear-- it takes a bit of focus when using and it needs to be handled with a modicum of care. Neck pillows seem like a godsend on a long haul flight, but I'm always surprised at how few people use them. At least part of it must be that they're SUPER bulky, and in this day of rollaboard, no checked bags airtravel, every inch counts. Enter the Sea to Summit Ultra Sil compression sack, XXS size. First of all, amazing that you can get a compression sack of this quality in this variety of sizes. Waterproof, durable and easy to use--these things are amazing. Most high quality neck pillows are made of polyurethane foam, like memory foam. Therefore they're ideal for compressing into minimal volume. Cabeau, Travel rest, etc. The simple nylon sacks they come in have no compression capability save for maybe a single Velcro strap. With this stuff sack, you can get at least 4:1 compression. ... show more

Great update to an already awesome bag. This bag is extremely waterproof. The compression + venting make it ideal for packing tight. You can really pull down on the straps to get the contents small. It works well for clothes, sleeping bags, food, tents, and other items that need to be protected / organized. This Ultra-Sil bag is slightly less durable than the original eVent compression - but I like this version better. The Small is 10 Liters (pictures below) - good for an extremely small sleeping bag/quilt, a puffy jacket, or a change of clothes. ... show more

This Ultra Sil version of the E-Vent compression sack is similar to but much lighter than the regular E Vent compression sack. Both are water proof but this one is best for light backpacking. It is minimal. It works perfectly. Don't expect to slam you gear into it and then crank down on the straps. Pack it carefully and then push down on it as you take the slack out of the straps. I needed a dry bag to keep my extra clothing dry while backpacking and these bags were recommended to my by another seasoned backpacker. I had originally bought one of the regular compression dry sacks (the non ultra sil version) and I had liked it very much. When it came time to purchase another dry bag I chose the ultra sill version this time. When you compare this to the original it seems a little less durable but its performance has stood up just as well while weighing less. What sets these bags apart from other types of dry sacks in the eVENT technology that lets you compress your dry sack by letting all the air out while still remaining water tight. I bought the 6L size bag which is about big enough to fit a couple extra pair of socks and underwear, an inflatable pillow, a travel size towel, and a set of thermals. While this is the perfect size for my needs, if you intend on carrying more clothing I would recommend the next size up. ... show more

I cram a lot of stuff in here and really compress it down. So far, no failures in any seams. I haven't tested soaking it or anything like that. I put my clothes in one of these and my sleeping bag in another one of these. I'm assuming they will repel water as advertised and I'll wait for the day that I'm drenched to see if they really work. The best part is that the material really holds up. I purchased these four seasons ago and have taken them on seven, one-week trips now. I've packed and repacked them probably 20-30 times at least and still no failures. And I pack them, then sit on them to really squish them down, then pull the straps tight. It's really dense when I'm done. I am very careful to be sure I am evenly distributing the tension and not just pulling like crazy in all directions. That may make the big difference as I'm not being sloppy about it. ... show more
