    • Makes framing much quicker and with greater accuracy
This makes framing a wall so much quicker and accurate. No need to lay out the stud locations, no measuring, no drawing lines. Nail your first stud flush with the top and bottom plates, attach this to your first stud and plate and away you go. Each subsequent stud is perfectly spaced 16" on center (or using the extension bars, 24" on center). Speeds up the framing considerably. Not only spaces the studs perfectly but helps hold them in place while nailing and as a bonus, keeps all the faces flush. This is a pretty simple fixture. It's solid, strong and well made. The steel is about 1/8" thick so it should hold up well on any jobsite and take a beating. The tool comes with all the necessary hardware including extension bars enabling it to adjust to 24" OC spacing. I think I've only framed 4 walls in my life using 24" OC spacing so those will be pretty much useless to me however I'm about to build a deck and I think I've found another use for them. This tool is designed to be used on frames were you can place on fixture on a stud and one on the plate. When building a deck with one side attached to a house, this becomes impossible as you can't get the fixture that would normally be used on the plate over the ledger board because it's nailed to the house. My plan is to take this top fixture off and attach one of the shorter extensions in it's place which will make all the surfaces (stud fixtures & top) flush. This way I can just place the tool on top of the ledger board and still use the stud fixtures for the joist layout AND flush up the faces of the joists with the ledger board and rim joist. Haven't used it for this yet but should make everything much quicker.     • Versatile and Reliable
Versatile and reliable whether you're a seasoned professional or a DIY enthusiast, this tool simplifies your framing tasks. It makes framing walls a breeze it enhancing both speed and accuracy of setting your frame. I used it with 2x6 for a floor deck for my shed and it worked fine even thou it’s not designed for that application. Tool is made very sturdy and that is why it is heavy which is why I only gave it four stars. You won’t find one on the market at this point that will do both 16 & 24 on center. Even thou It is a lot less expensive that buying two different tools for the job, and changing sizes are a little time consuming. I still highly recommend this tool. Pros: Can be adjusted between 16 on center or 24 on center Makes framing faster and more accurate Keeps lumber in place like a third hand Great for the beginners Cons: Tool is heavy Time consuming when changing sizes Made for 2x4 only ... show more

I got the box and wondered what could be inside. It wasn't physically big but it was fairly heavy. So many jigs I have gotten are pressed sheetmetal, and the floor joist one has worked well for a lot of years. For wall studs I've usually just used a chunk of wood, or laid the bottom and top plates side-by-side and used a framing square to pencil on the stub placement. But I'm always looking for a better mousetrap and this looked to have the flexibility of using it for both 16" o.c. or 24" o.c. stud or joist placement. It comes with nice quality fasteners, with lock nuts and large knurled nuts that you can get fairly tight using fingers and the supplied hex wrench for the included bolts. My major interest was after getting it together, which took only a few minutes was how accurate it actually was. Even something like 16 1/8" or 15 7/8" can make a difference as you move down a long wall span. Cumulative error can be a killer, at least for the trades that have to follow behind you. Even before using a pliers to further tighten the nuts it was impressive to find not even a 1/32" variation on mine from 16" spacing. That is better than I can do with a square and pencil. Obviously for more complicated framing, including door and window framing, this isn't going to be really handy. That needs hand layout anyway. But for long walls with repetitive framing this is a really nice tool. And it is in no way flimsy. Solid as a rock is more like it. The only modification I might consider is the odd times I have had floor joist spacing at 19.25". It would require holes be drilled in the extension pieces, and with this heavy metal that would need a drill press. But other than that this is a really good tool. ... show more

    • Much easier
This tool is great, I'm just using it as a diy homeowner so not sure how it'll hold up with professional use. But for at home this has been great! Laying out framing for the wall is super fast and easy without needing measure, but also this holds the framing in place while you nail it which keeps your hands free of the area safely. I didn't think this would be as good as it is, you do need to assemble it some and the pictures aren't that great but it's not hard. The device seems to be pretty durable outside of the plastic handle which is already loose and wobbly, but otherwise the metal is thick and should last for a while with home use ... show more

    • Great tool to have
This is very versatile tool in my opinion that is quality built and will last you a very long time. Although this is listed to be used in framing I also used it to frame in a box in my shed to hold my lawn tools. Without knowing I needed this I also did use this to replace several studs in my shed after a resent micro burst took the roof off my shed damaging one wall. It is easily adjustable and held perfectly to allow me to easily replace the studs saving me an insurance claim and making it a smooth repair. A few of my neighbors were very impressed with the tool and many mentioned that they would have to go out and get one too. After use it easily breaks down to store easily (in the same rack I built for my lawn tools). I can easily see being able to use this to make perfect squares out of 2x4s or 2x6s for many projects. ... show more
