Description

The Scubapro Apnea Snorkel is a foldable freediving snorkel design. Made from soft and flexible non-toxic silicone, Scubapro's Apnea Snorkel easily attaches to your mask strap when being used. When not needed, it can be folded and stowed in an accessory pocket. When it's time to do some more surface swimming, it pops right back into shape. The Apnea's upper barrel can be removed if you prefer to use a shorter pipe. Without question, this is an easy-to-use and very versatile surface breather. Simple yet functional traditional "J" Snorkel design. No valves that can leak. Snorkel is specifically for spear fishing and free diving. The contoured shape of the silicone mouthpiece and the air tube has been ergonomically designed to follow the profile of the spear fisherman's face, to greatly reduce its visibility during the dive. This flexibility is also advantages when fishing around rocks and caves. Snorkel has an easy-to-use snorkel keeper, and is available in multiple colors.

  • Excellent Snorkel but miss the see-through mouthpiece piece on previous versions
Color: Blue
I'm a long time diver and have always preferred a simple "J" snorkel vs. "no flood" snorkels. I've dove this particular "J" snorkel for many years (until recently branded in Scubapro dive shops as "SnorkelPro" vs "Scubapro") and have 4 or 5 that I use to help train new snorkelers. The last time I bought this style snorkel the mouthpiece itself was clear. I find that to be an advantage since you can clearly see any water remaining in that mouthpiece after trying to clear it. You can hold it up to a student to show them how much water they didn't expel. They can then independently work on their technique and self-check the residual water in their mouthpiece to see if they've achieved a better, first-blow "clear". I just bought a new one from this page a few weeks ago and was disappointed to see that the mouthpiece is now completely opaque; eliminating the ability for an objective view on how much water remains in the snorkel. I asked a local Scubapro tech why this change was made and he said it was his understanding that this was done for esthetics. Apparently there were some complaints that the clear mouthpieces often turn a bit brown-tinted - just as with most such transparent plastics in masks - if they're left in full sun too often and for too long. As you can see from the years-old one on the left in the attached picture, it's hardly a big deal. I'm not a fan of sacrificing function for esthetics. In any case I've never seen any experienced diver who was worried about how pristine their gear looked on the boat or the dock. Other than that change, I still like this snorkel and will continue to buy it. It's simple, small, holds up well, breathes well, has no "no flood" valve to screw up or add effort to clearing the tube, and is clean of unnecessary obstructions that can hang up on other gear. ... show more

  • Need refinement

Snorkel keeper (for me) was a pain to get it perfect…..I think my mouth moves on my face lol

  • Excellent simple, durable snorkel
I’m an experienced free diver that need durable equipment with limited potential to break/malfunction. This is definitely it for the snorkel world. No shotgun valve, no flapper ball on top; just the bear necessities.

  • It’s as expected.
Color: White
It’s fine and as expected. It catches and pulls my hair at the connection point to the mask, which is a common annoyance with all snorkels. For the price point it’s fine.

  • flimsy snorkel
Color: Turquoise
Too flimsy so it folds in my mouth. Not a bad snorkel just doesn’t work well for me. Bought for swimming laps, had to keep stopping to adjust.

  • Alittle too flimsy
Color: Black
Build is nice, but unfortunately I don’t think it fits on my face well and is too flimsy so it folds in my mouth. Not a bad snorkel just doesn’t work well for me.
