I live in Southern Minnesota and these tires made riding this winter so much more enjoyable. I chose these tires because they are much less expensive than other options. Basically these are the same tire as the Schwalbe Marathon Winter, but with half the number of studs. Having studs only on the middle section turned out to be all that I needed. Immediately upon placing these tires on I felt the control of my bike improve greatly. As I gained confidence I tested braking on icy downhill streets, and I found that breaking traction was never an issue. I've put around 300 icy miles on them now and neither the rubber nor studs show signs of wear. Pros: -Cost effective -Great traction -Very durable Cons: -Check your toe clearance, I ripped a bit of my boot on the studs while turning. ... show more

Great commuter tire for the price. If you live in Alaska like I do, you have to wait a few days after it snows for the fatbikes to pack it down, otherwise these will be too skinny for trails and dig in. However, these are excellent commuter tires for on icy sidewalks or paved bike trails. Feels like you're riding on pavement. Side note: I bought some extra studs to do the outer holes that are blank. I felt a lot more comfortable taking steeper turns with the extra studs, otherwise I would recommend keeping the bike upright as much as possible with the tire as-is. ... show more

These things are the bomb! I rode in 2" snow, hard packed snow and sheet ice and they were sure footed as can be. I actually stood on the pedals and accelerated while the car next to spun his wheels. These are well engineered tires. They are a bit noisy and do not roll as nice as my regular tires, but it is worth it to say to my coworkers, "Of course I rode in." ... show more

The Schwalbe tires were great for getting around town during winter. They are slower than regular tires so that my 20 minute ride turned into 30. However, I never had a problem of sliding on icy patches. This tire is best for areas where the snow is cleared often and not deep as they became squirrely in snow over 6". ... show more
