- MARATHON PLUS TIRE: The most puncture resistant pneumatic tire there is. The patented, 5 mm thick SmartGuard layer has a significant advantage in rolling resistance. Also in the SmartGuard, we use a proportion of recycled rubber from old latex products. It now lasts much longer before deveolping unsightly cracks when subjected to use with insufficient air pressure. Due to its great properties Marathon Plus is the best choice for E-Bikes (E-25).

Smooth and quiet
Size 700 x 35C. Replaced worn out initial basic Schwalbe Marathon tire after about 12 years and around 2500 miles on rear. Had just three punctures over the years. Ride with this improved type is still smooth and quiet. The added puncture protection gives me peace of mind. After just about 200 miles, too early to judge longevity. But, no apparent wear. so far. Would buy again.

The best you can buy
These tires are the best you can buy. I put these on my Rans Stratus XP AL and rode all the way across the country, 4,400 miles, with not one flat. My fellow riders all had at least one flat, or more, on different brand tires. It's worth it to pay a little more to ride on these tires and not have the hassle of dealing with flats in the middle of nowhere.

So far, best bike tire ever!
I bought these Schwalbe tires for my Trek Domane 6 after having 4 flats in 4 rides on another brand (and multiple other flats over time). I ride on chip-and-seal, gravel, and hardtop roads. The problem comes from the highway shoulder debris where multi-belted radial truck tires have blown out and have strewn tiny, almost invisible wires that penetrate every tire I’ve run on multiple bikes through the years (I’ve had quite a few high-end road and gravel bikes and the results are always the same… blow out after blow out). Nothing worked. Not tubeless tires with all the gummy, messy glue, not other name brand “puncture-proof tires,” not Kevlar liners, not rubber liners, not Slime-filled tubes, not thorn-proof tubes… need I keep going? Anyway, I’m 6 rides in on the Schwalbe’s and haven’t lost a ride to a blowout. I’m beginning to believe I’ve finally found a workable solution, a tire that performs as advertised. And here’s an added bonus. It’s a pretty “tall” tire from the rim to the bead and it makes for a smooth, cushier ride. I haven’t had a chance to ride them in the rain yet but by the looks of the treads they should perform well under wet conditions too. So far, very pleased. We’ll see what happens over time and many more rides but for now it’s “all systems go” on my Domane 6 running over 20MPH. It doesn’t get any better than that.

Durable tire with great visibility feature
I got this tire because Schwalbe Marathon (3mm) got punctured by a piece of glass. This tire has 5mm thick protective belt around IT. It's the thickest one I could find for my gravel bike. As you can see in the photo the tire is very reflective. It is also fairly easy to put on, I swapped the tires in about 20 min. As a bonus the company gives you a comic strip, which is a first for me 😅.

Disappointed but …..
EDIT: Finally heard from the company, my email went to Germany and was diverted to the US for follow up. The company stood by their product and will replace the tire, that is great customer service and am satisfied. Had the tire since Nov 2022. As you can see there is plenty of life left in these tires. Bought an expensive tire as was expecting them to last worry free. Had a blowout on the sidewalk for no apparent reason while riding. The interior looked unscathed. Rode another 20 miles and then did not hold the air. Wrote to the company twice and got not response.

I've run these for the last 5 years on my commuter (700x35). 0 flats, 0 punctures. These laugh at road debris - and my commute is through an area that has been in constant construction for the last 5 years. From airport repairs to a myriad of warehouses being constructed. I ride every day, leave these out in the Texas heat all day, they just keep on delivering the goods. These aren't the easiest tires to mount - but they are worth the effort. BTW, I'm seeing people saying they can't mount these. I mounted them with my thumbs (took about 10 minutes) - but admittedly had some serious cramps afterwards. Would I do that again? You bet I would, gladly. Though I'd be a little smarter next time. 5 years later they look like they can go another 5. They are the rare product that delivers in spades on what they say they offer.

Has prevented flats so far
I bought the Marathon Plus because last summer I had at least four flat tires during rides. Since putting the Marathon Plus tires on, I've ridden 300 miles (a few of those rides on the same trail that gave me multiple flats last year), and so far so good - not a single flat. This morning I rode in the "Tour de Belt" event around Harrisburg, PA, and when I got back to my car I discovered the pin (or whatever it is) pictured with this review embedded in my back tire. It was in there so deep that it broke into two pieces as I tried to pull it out. The pointy end of the little hooked piece was at least half-way into the tire. I got it out and, as far as I can tell, the tire's fine. The tube was undamaged. I should mention that those who say these tires are hard to get onto the rim aren't kidding. I was expecting it to be difficult, and it was even worse than I was expecting. Took quite a bit of struggling. But if I can get them onto a rim, probably anyone can. Also, these tires are noticeably thinner and harder than my previous tires, so the ride has gotten a good bit rougher and it took me a while to adjust going around curves, especially in gravel. But considering that the tire survived being stuck with that pin that would have easily flatted my previous tires, I can live with a slightly rougher ride.
