I got this for my wife's herb garden. We live in a condo and have a very small patch of ground at the corner of our building that we can garden in - anything but vegetables or other deer attractants. Rural New Jersey has got to have about 1 deer per square foot and they eat everything and anything. Came in a fairly large box, I got the one with the gate so it weighed in at just under 50lbs. It was double boxed, plus bubble wrap around the metal tubes that make up the item. All contents were present and in perfect condition. The main bits all slip together and are fastened by sheet metal screws, which I'll probably replace with larger screws since they don't really bite into the pre-drilled holes. The larger bolts that hold the actual curved pieces of the arc apart work just fine. Everything went together with only a tiny bit of persuading needed, nothing that a little muscle couldn't handle. I'd leave about 1 inch of space between the gates so that they will close properly. The "feet" of the arch are supposed to be driven into the ground using a piece of rebar or something that can make about a 1/2" hole about 8 inches deep that the legs then slip into. I suppose you could leave the rebar in place and slip the legs over them to add a little more sturdiness. I wouldn't call in flimsy, but it does rock side to side a bit. If you do as I suggest and use 2 foot long rebar and put the legs over that after they've been driven in the ground I think it will be much sturdier. The gate and latch work very well, no issues at all. Overall, I really like this gate. Not too wide, not too deep, a little taller than I thought but height doesn't matter in my applications.

This arbor was very easy to put together, but I was disappointed the “stakes” are not really stakes, but just tapered ends (and not tapered enough to easily hammer into the ground). I was expecting separate stakes that the tapered ends attached to. Alas, that wasn’t the case. However, I “drilled” pilot holes w a big screwdriver and used a rubber mallet to pound the bottom 4-6” into the ground. I also used some garden wire to affix the upper portion of the arbor to my fence. We are using it to hang a set of cathedral chimes. Just be prepared to do a little extra work to stabilize this piece if you’re permanently installing it in your yard.

Took less than an hour for one (female), moderately mechanically inclined person to put together. The hardest part was getting the box up the stairs after the lazy delivery guy left it by the garage door. A little pounding with a rubber mallet was needed to put the side panels together and the screws for those go in kind of wonky, but just persist and you’ll get it done. Do note that the legs that stick into the ground are quite long, so if your soil isn’t deep enough to bury them all the way, the gate will be far enough above the ground for a small or medium size dog to get under it. The paint has flaked in a few spots, so I’ll probably add a coat of rust resistant paint as others have suggested. Once the legs are planted, it’s relatively sturdy and the simple design makes it a nice addition to the garden.

Admittedly, I love the way it looks. I have honeysuckle growing up over it and it looks great. My issue is after a couple weeks. There is already rust spots. The directions were great until it comes time to putting it in the ground.. We zip tied The gate and then put a piece of wood block as the gate kept closing tight because the footings really weren’t solid. But, the price was right and there’s always rest oleum paint to fix the rust spots. I had to put some mesh on the gate inside as my small dogs Snuck out but it works great now

Arch is sturdy. Fairly easy to push into ground enough to feel secure, but I plan to anchor it with some stakes as well in case of high winds.
