I stared at these bookshelves for weeks, read all reviews and finally purchased two! They are absolutely gorgeous and exactly what I was looking for in my home office. My husband put both together in about an hour and a half. He only needed my help with one of them that kept giving him a little trouble. One of the bookshelves had a broken piece (piece M) that is used at the very top of the shelf. I reached out to the manufacturer with the phone number on the instruction manual and they quickly shipped out a new piece. I highly recommend these! These bookshelves are everything!!! Also.... my hubby was very impressed with the little humored-jokes included on each instruction! You can often tell the quality of a product by its packaging, and this bookcase is packaged superbly. The package arrived with sturdy saran wrapped with dense cardboard crossbeams around the edges of the box, something I hadn't seen before, even from IKEA. All contents arrived with absolutely no damage. The bookcase itself was incredibly easy to put together but will take about 30 to 45 minutes simply due to the number of pieces. Despite what other reviewers have said, I found this bookcase to be very sturdy. Obviously it won't be as strong as solid wood which it seems some reviewers are comparing this too. If built correctly, it stands straight and does not wobble at all. It is currently holding approximately 40 lbs of books with no issues. If you are familiar with IKEA's Black-Brown color, this item matches perfectly (color wise, not grain wise). TLDR: Unbeatable for the price, quality better/on-par with IKEA ... show more

The bookshelf was delivered and had a few minor scratches, but nothing that made it worth sending back for a new one. All in all, I am pleased with this product. The assembly instructions were clear and the shelf fits well in the space.

This is better quality than IKEA. Seriously. The instructions were easy to follow (and funny--like a note when it was time to get a friend to help with a step or time for snacks), all the holes were drilled correctly, there were no scratches or other damages on anything, all the needed parts were there, and the quality of wood was better. I like the lighter more cottage look of the chalked, doesn't over power a light colored room like the dark colored version would. It took two of us for most of it (though one would have done that part fine, I'm just instruction following challenged), but we did need three for the final part of connecting the two sides. Take your time, pay attention to the drawings, in the parts with more than one screw tighten each a bit to make sure everything is aligned first before cranking them all the way in place, and you should be fine. This is decently heavy, so it looks great. Holds a lot of books of varying sizes (I looked carefully at all the reviewer included pics to see if it would suit my needs, yep!)--and the shelves are deep enough to hold some figurines or rocks or something. I had wanted something that would hold a good amount of books, not look like the traditional rectangle bookcase, was open constructed so would look less 'heavy' visually in the space I wanted, was quality made, not torturous to put together, and didn't cost its purchase price to ship (yeah, IKEA, that's you now, like I want to spend the cost of two bookcases but only actually get one). It's frustrating because I ordered two of these bookcases-- the first one was great and not too hard to assemble, but halfway through assembling the second one I realized that the holes weren't even drilled into the shelves. It appeared as though the shelves were marked where the holes should probably be, but upon comparing them to the others, it was clear that this was not the case. Each shelf was marked differently, making it very confusing. Another problem was that the shelves (if properly prepared) wouldn't cover the screws on the backside like they are supposed to. As you can see on the first bookcase I constructed, the shelves completely mask the screws. It's clear that this product is incomplete and poorly made. I have since deconstructed it and will return it. I'm really disappointed. ... show more

I was looking for a shelf to displays my action figures and this product stood out with overwhelmingly positive reviews from other customers, more so than other similarly looking shelves so I decided to purchase one. I was not disappointed. It is as if the shelf was specifically made to display my figures, that illustrates how good of a design this is. The item arrived very well-packaged and the assemble was relatively simple and fast. All the parts fits together nicely with minimal effort. I have a small living room that I needed to tie together. These bookshelves fit perfectly and are incredibly heavy. They really feel like they can take the weight of my hardcover books despite the shelves not being real wood. My biggest issue is that the color does NOT match what is shown on Amazon. It's way more washed out in real life with cool tones so it does not match with the rest of my furniture. If they didn't weigh what feels like a million pounds, I might return them. I assembled the first bookcase in about 2 hours as a single woman without assistance, and the second bookcase in even less time after I knew what I was doing. They were not difficult to assemble at all. Super easy. If you aren't able to lift heavy objects, though, you might need a second person to help lift it and place it in the room. It's the next day, and I'm sore from hefting them upstairs and around the apartment. ... show more
