  • This is not a 30 minute project
Color: Select Cherry
This is a great desk. It does take some time to assemble it. The quality is very nice. it is press wood and very heavy. If you decide to purchase this desk just know "it is not a 30 minute project". If you are reasonable handy and follow the direction you should be able to assemble it. All my parts were marked, some you have to look very close to fine the markings. The finish is as good as anything you buy finished. It meets my need perfect. The color match for my bedroom was very close. This is a project, take your time do it right. Remember the material you are working with. Forget about others time of completion, it take a good time to complete. If you need to, work on it , take a break, come back to it, in the end you will be happy with the finished product. The parts were cut to fit together very well. It is heavy, 140#, you will need help moving it. It's not made to move around. I would buy it again. First and foremost don't go into this thinking you can do this in a few minutes, you can't. I have worked with my hands all my life and it took quite a while to finish, but I'm happy with my desk. Just a tip, the screw pack has a lot of parts, I took a box cutter and put a small slit in the plastic to remove just what I needed , when I needed. Don't cut through the screw part numbers. ... show more

  • Excellent Computer Desk - Well Designed - Solid & Attractive - Detailed Instructions
Color: Split Oak
In my experience, this desk is typical of Sauder great value well designed products in the buyer assembly category. The instructions, which I consulted constantly during assembly, are full of diagrams and pointers to ensure you assemble the right parts in the right orientations in the right order. Part label stickers come off easily without the annoying need for glue remover. Small parts are organized in a labeled compartmented bag. Buyers should understand this desk will take a while to assemble. There are a lot of parts. Go slowly and carefully and you will be very happy with the results. I am very experienced with furniture assembly and this desk took me over 4 hours to complete including unpacking. The pull out drawer with fold down end is ideal for a keyboard and has plenty of room for storage. I keep my laptop, keyboard, mouse. & pad, disc and thumb drives, etc in it when not using them. The lower drawer includes the rods and edges for hanging files, which is how I use it. The upper two drawers have ample space - I keep my office supplies in them. I would call this a medium size desk, which has turned out to be ideal for my home office needs. ... show more

  • Good, inexpensive desk
Color: Vintage Oak
We had just moved into a new home, and my wife ordered this for me. Fortunately, the movers were willing to take it up to my office, otherwise, I would have had to open the box and take it up piece by piece. It sat against the wall for a few weeks until I got my courage up to get started. I was able to lay everything out on the carpet ("It's a mess!" said my three year old grandson.) Most things are marked, which helped. I didn't see where the many pouches that contained the hardware were, though, so I just cut the tops as I needed the items so they wouldn't get all over. The instructions are complete, and unlike Ikea, contain real words that explain, with a little humor, what to do. Beware, I missed a couple of steps because there weren't pictures, it just said, do the last one like the previous two. There was a lot of screwing, and after the blister on my palm healed, I did use my power drill carefully, and it helped. It went together well, with some redundancies that make it feel solid. The drawers slide easily, although there appears to be a gap between the middle and bottom that I have no intention of trying to make perfect. Note that the top drawer lines up with the keyboard drawer, not the two below it. Buyer beware: it scratches very easily, so don't put anything sharp on the top while you're building it. I'm going to need to get my furniture markers to blend those in, although they aren't too obvious. When it's done, it would be good to have another person help you place it in its final location. All in all, I'd say it's a good value and looks good. ... show more

  • Needs lots of assembly. But nice!
Color: Vintage Oak
I think I’m going to love it if I ever get it put together. Lol. The one thing that is so wonderful is the customer support has been fantastic. I’ve had to call twice. Great service both times. Update! Got it put together and I love it!

  • Sturdy and heavy - nice piece of furniture
Color: Split Oak
One of the things I found really aesthetically pleasing when looking at the pictures was something that didn't work for me - the little door on the keyboard and mouse tray. The hinges are in the way. Also, you can't pull the keyboard and mouse out very far. So, I took it off. It looks great without it too. Another negative is the assembly. The instructions are really good. It takes hours, though. We worked on it together, didn't have any snags, and it took us 4 hours. Every little piece has to be screwed in or popped into place. Every little piece is separate, and there are a lot of pieces. We carefully used a drill for some screws, but mostly used a screwdriver. Be careful as to what piece goes on which side. That part could be easy to mix up. I love the desk, though, especially for the price. It's not solid wood. It is particle board, but it's still very nice. The drawers slide smoothly. It has a really nice look to it. If I could give it 4.5 stars, I would have for the assembly time, but I'd rather give it 5 than 4. It doesn't deserve a 4. Overall, I'm very happy with it. ... show more

  • Great desk, very happy with it
Color: Vintage Oak
First, to the reviewers who decribed this desk as "junk", here's a hint: High end furniture is not assembled by the consumer. Go to a real furniture store and pay real furniture prices if that is what you're looking for and expecting. This desk is attractive, very sturdy and will serve it's purpose without breaking the bank. Points to consider 1) It is very heavy (140+ lbs) delivered in one very awkward box. Plan to have help moving it. 2) I assembled (and re-assembled the step I messed up!) the desk in just under 4 hours. Having a place to lay out the pieces is an advantage. 3) The instructions are clear, nearly all of the parts are clearly marked, the rest are easily identifiable. The hardware is grouped and sealed in labeled sections. A Phillips screwdriver and hammer are the only tools needed. 4) I found that attaching brackets snug, but not tight, allowed for alignment and fitting of parts. I tightened them once I was happy with the fit. 5) The drawers should NOT bump or catch on each other. Loosen the screw holding the slide and adjust as needed. I spent 30 minutes getting these right, but it was time well spent. If your looking for an affordable, attractive desk, I would reccomend this one, or any of the Sauder line. I've been buying them for years, always a good product. ... show more

  • Issues with Sauder Palladia Computer Desk -Do not buy this item!
Color: Vintage Oak
Dear Sauder Customer Service Team, I am writing to share my feedback regarding my recent experience with the Sauder Palladia Computer Desk. I have purchased and assembled many Sauder furniture pieces in the past, but encountered several significant issues with this specific product. First, upon unpacking the parts, I discovered that a two-inch piece of the trim identified as "Bottom Molding/BB" had broken off. I located in the bottom of the box. I ultimately had to use Super Glue to reattach it. Second, the instructions for "End Molding AA" do not match the expected alignment. The guide suggests centering it on pieces "D2" and "C2," whereas the illustration on the cover of the assembly guide shows the molding mounted on the outside edge of each piece. Finally, Step 17 states that the small drawer should be assembled the same way as the middle and bottom drawers, but no accompanying diagram was provided to verify this. Due to the poor quality control and unclear instructions experienced with this item, I do not plan to purchase Sauder furniture in the future. Please note that I only gave this product a one-star rating because the system required a rating to submit this feedback. ... show more

  • Nice Desk..But Lots of Unmarked Parts
Color: Select Cherry
First the good news. This is a beautiful desk once assembled. The cherry finish is very nice. It is sturdy, solid and fairly heavy. I expect it to hold up fine for a long time. Now the bad. The sides of the keyboard drawer had the predrilled holes in the exposed finished edge on top instead of the underneath edge out of site where they belong. I will have to fill in these holes with a matching filler. I had to drill the holes myself in the proper place. There were at least two dozen wooden pieces that were not marked for identification. Many of them look very similar and it can be difficult to sort through them and make sure you have the right piece. This severely slowed down assembly. I spent about 16 hours spread out over four days on it as a result. I'd estimate this to be about a four hour job if all parts are marked as they should be. All in all, I don't regret this purchase. It is cheaper than I would have expected for this nice a quality and it is a very nice desk. Just be aware you may be in for some serious time to assemble it and you may have to deal with issues with the predrilled holes. ... show more
