  • Amazing Bookcase
I'm impressed! Everything about this bookcase is just too good -Shipped promptly -The packaging was perfect. It had glues seals on the box so nothing could happen to it on the way here, and had individual scratch protects in between all the shelves. Screws and nails were also in a strong little bag -Very easy setup. -Amazing quality control. My shelves had no scratches, scruffs, or weird marks. They were all very clean and looked great -The shelf looks gorgeous. Even the back cover, which is normally a cheap cardboard type of thing, is somewhat of a slightly better material that folds properly so it doesn't give off that cheap creasy look that other shelves do. -The shelves are adjustable, so you can move them to whatever sizes you may need (Very valuable trait. Other Bookcases are too limiting because you can't move their shelves and are stuck with inconvenient sizes sometimes). -This thing is actually pretty big. I found it to be among the biggest in its price range. -It's sturdy once you get all the screws in tight. Really doesn't wobble unless you're putting a lot of force on it. And most importantly, it's just so cheap. For nearly $40, this bookcase has everything; it is amazing. Sauder and the seller did an impeccable job, good work. ... show more

  • Great value for price and nice and sturdy!
I wanted two simple small/yet roomy bookcases for my daughter’s playroom - something safe and low to the ground that she would never be tempted to climb on. I got really frustrated while looking, because most bookcases for children are just too small and/or too expensive. A lot of book cases I looked at didn’t get great reviews. I kept coming back to these, and I’m glad I did! They are perfect in her playroom - they hold all of my childhood books AND hers, in addition to other things. I was surprised how much room I had left! I’m glad to know I can still add a lot to her collection without running out of room. They are very easy to assemble, and they came safely packaged and in perfect condition. They are very sturdy and well made for the price - I feel like they will be very safe for my child. I highly recommend these, and truly don’t think you’ll find a better simple bookcase for the price! ... show more

  • Meets the need
Yes as other reviews mention, these are cheap. Well I agree they aren't top quality, but they aren't top price either, they are as expected. They are they only reasonably priced shelves I could find. I purchased four. I built them all quickly, about 10 minutes per set. The directions are fine. Whoever is talking about screws poking through didn't build them right. They are basic and easy to figure out. I lined them up together and have a lovely little set up for my office/homeschool classroom for a price I could afford. I won't overload them or climb on them etc and I'm sure they will be fine for years to come. I might also add they are a great size and depth. I am very happy. My only disappointment was the finish. It's a paper type laminate and it is mighty thin. But again, they were cheap. ... show more

  • Easy to put together, good for the price
I've made a few bookcases like these over the years, and this one was by far the easiest. At first I tried to assemble on the floor as the picture directions indicated, but for me, I gained much more leverage placing it atop a quilt and a hardwood table. Then it was a breeze. I worried about it being in alignment, but actually when you put the first screw in, it aligns itself. I only wish it had a toe-kick piece. But those w/toe kicks, didn't get a good review. Considering I would have had to pay $700 for 2 all-wood, custom made bookcases, this will do (plus I wasn't 100% sure I even wanted a bookcase. So this was a great solution. I find these type of cases, although not rock solid, do last if you don't overload them. Very happy, would order again. ... show more

  • Sturdy White Bookcase
It took a while to put this bookcase together, but once it was done, it looked good. The instructions to put the bookcase together were easy to follow. It is very sturdy and fits the spot in my craft room. The bottom shelf holds 40 lbs and the other 2 shelves hold 25 lbs each. The top of the bookcase also holds 25 lbs. ... show more

  • Not up to the level of Ikea Billy Bookcases
The Pros; Cheap. White. Good size. (36" high, as opposed to Idea 41" These fit under my counter top. Free shipping from Amazon. Fast delivery. Turned out fine, and are quite useful for my very large number of books. The Cons; First, I miss the index pegs and predrilled index holes on Ikea bookcases. These required me to predrill a small starter hole for the screws. (Incidentally, they do NOT provide a single extra screw or any other small part). Nothing in the instructions mentions that the lower cross board is 3/8" from flush, The predrilled hole is that way. But you can easily position it flush like the top, and ruin the cross board by drilling thru the edge of it. Somewhat tricky to hold the top (or bottom) correctly while you predrill the hole in it, (Or try simply to screw the two boards together as the instructions say). After careful predrilling and looking at the diagrams, I got it all together fine. The edges are not perfectly fluxh, and there is no reason why the side boards are 1/8" wider than the top and bottom. This affects the attachment of the back piece. This is not even mentioned, so I had to assume the front should be flush, and assemble it that way. I did, and it turned out ok Now. The worst part: The paperthing back "board". It's made of the thinnest cardboard junk I can imagine, and simply tears at the folds if you are not careful. Mine required some packing tape applied to the reverse to mend it. The folds are not going to disappear, and you have to live with that. For books, Fine. For display of objects, it's not good. In addition, they are a so stingy with the tiny nails that there are not enough of them to completely attach the cardboard back without spaces showing at edges when you look at the completed bookcase. I ended up realizing that my industrial staple gun was a perfect solution, and addeda about 12 heavy duty staples to the few brads they give you. Shelves are adjustable, and seem as sturdy as Ikea. Bottom line. Not as easy to get as good a result as if you bought an Ikea Billy Bookcase, but in my case, I don't have an Ikea here, and they wanted $349 dollars to deliver two small bookcases to me. For some strange reason, they would deliver ONE for $4, however. Go figure. Also, one small Billy bookcase is the ONLY thing Ikeas seems to be able to deliver to a Fed Ex location near me for $4. Amazon ships this bookcase to me for free. (yes, I know I could have simply placed two separate orders with Ikea, and should have, but they would not fit my space. So bottom line, if you are good with drills, rulers, and screwdrivers, you can build this and get a good result. (I considered buying a piece of 3/8 plywood and making my owm back for them, but decided not to. Plywood is way down in price now, but a couple of years ago, that would have added about $75 to the cost. They are good enough for my books. Only I know how cheezy these bookcases are. ... show more
