Samsung does have an phone app to check for authenticity, but on a PC it's the "Memory Card/UFD Authentication Utility"which is integrated into their "Magician Software" I can't give a link but if you just do a google search the first link or so it should take you right to the tools on Samsung's website. Again for PC is their "Magician Software" As far as the SD card. It's their EVO model so it's going to have lower write speeds. Generally 90MB/s-60MB/s depending on size. The Samsung Pro Plus has 130 MB/s, write speed and the Samsung Pro Endurance only has 40MB/s but can handle continuous writing far better before failure than their other cards and it fine for 4k video....Even for 2.5k I would get a Pro Endurance or best get a Pro Ultimate card wih130MB/s write speed and you get the speed and endurance. It's overkill but it will give you peace of mind. I'm poor so I plan on using the EVO in a FHD security camera and have no reservations with that. The only thing is for a security camera with continuous writing I would get a large size to prevent early failure. The EVO has a 10 year warranty but that doesn't help when you lose your data. The Pro Endurance will be capable of far more writes before any failure. That and the Pro Ultimate would be a better choice for cameras but I still have faith the EVO will last. The Samsung EVO Select 512GB microSDXC card is an impressive storage solution that offers a lot of value for the price. With such a massive capacity, it's ideal for users who need to store large amounts of high-resolution video, music, games, or photos. I’ve used this card across multiple devices — including a Samsung phone, a GoPro, a Nintendo Switch, and even a tablet — and it hasn’t let me down once. Read speeds are excellent. Files load quickly, games launch without noticeable lag, and videos — even in 4K UHD — play smoothly and record without buffering. It’s really convenient for expanding storage on portable gaming devices or action cameras, and it handled everything I threw at it, including hours of 4K footage and hundreds of large media files. The included SD adapter works great with my laptop, making file transfers easy and seamless. However, the write speeds don’t quite match the lightning-fast read speeds. While they’re still solid for most tasks, if you're planning to do constant 4K recording or use it for high-speed photography in a professional setting, it may lag slightly behind some higher-end cards. It's not a dealbreaker, but it's noticeable compared to more expensive pro-grade options. Durability-wise, the card feels well-built, and Samsung claims it’s water, temperature, magnet, and X-ray proof. I haven’t tested all those claims, of course, but it’s nice knowing it’s designed to survive in rough conditions. Overall, this is a dependable, fast, and affordable memory card that does exactly what most people need — and does it well. SAMSUNG is the only company I trust for SD cards nowadays. I used to use Sandisk but I've had so many older Sandisk cards literally fall apart on me, that I'm only going for the Samsung cards now. As for this 1TB Evo Select- this card will live in my Steam Deck. Card passed my testing round with Validrive (meaning it's authentic) and CrystalDiskMark reports stats that are consistent with what is advertised. These EVO Select cards are my goto choice for storage on devices that need some "static" storage for just holding onto some data. Game consoles, tablets, and even phones (if you can FIND a phone with a card slot these days...) and other stuff like that. This card is NOT the best choice for sustained use of any high speed or high quality video cameras or capture device, though. Go with something better for those uses! These are made for typical use, not for heavy cycling! On that note, physically, the card seems like it's of decent quality, and Samsung cards, while not top in class in terms of price or in terms of maximum storage capacity like Sandisk cards, for the price, you get a better quality card that will last longer and isn't likely to fall apart or die on you, unless you quite heavily abuse it. I have 64GB cards from nearly a decade ago that are still working perfectly in older devices, like Nintendo 3DSs, Wii U consoles, Wii consoles, etc. ... show more
