This significantly improved my gameplay. I am absolutely stunned how smooth my games run. The upgrade from 60 to 144Hz make my eyes feel refreshed. This gave me the same ecstatic feeling as switching from hard drive to solid state (SSD) (If you haven’t upgraded to an SSD, leave this page and do that! Then you will understand my analogy). My reactions are quicker and my mouse movement feels more responsive thus making me more accurate. I was never at the level of gameplay I wanted to be at. With this monitor, it is now possible to keep up with all the other players who had faster reactions than me in the past. Do yourself, your eyes and your gaming life a favor, make the step to 144 Hz if you haven’t already. My next step is 244Hz and I’m already itching for it after having this monitor for a month! Likes: The curved monitor - a nice feature that is way more than I expected. Glad I made the transition from flat to curved. The user interface/controls - simple and easy to use. The stand - easy to assemble and it’s very thin so it doesn’t take up that much desk space. Included accessories/packaging - The monitor came with an HDMI and a DVI cable and the overall product design of the boxes looked beautiful. Shout out to the designers who made it. Onboard User Settings/Modes - The monitors presets are great and the eye-saver mode is perfect for studying. I am on my computer for hours of time because of gaming, photo editing, designing, studying, etc. The different presets can be fully customized and it’s easy to switch between the 3 custom settings you can save. I have one set up for gaming, editing and studying. Dislikes: The colors - they aren’t accurate, of course this can be fixed with tweaks. Upon initial start up, the reds were very high. I spent a lot of time playing with different color settings which is important for me because I edit photos on my computer. This has a major influence on the appearance on my images. The price - I feel like I could have went with a cheaper 144Hz monitor and been just as satisfied. However, no regrets still, I only wanted to state that for anyone who may be juggling between a cheaper monitor and this one. FreeSync - which is not compatible with my GTX 1060. If you care about this, make sure the monitor you have is compatible with your GPU. AMD = FreeSync, Intel = G-Sync. If an HDMI cable is your preferred hardware, be sure to have a 4.1 HDMI or higher to use the full refresh rate of 144Hz on this monitor. Upon initial boot of my monitor, I spent some time trying to find out why my maximum refresh rate was 120Hz. I switched to DVI and the issue was solved but I can see how this may irk some people if they are die hard HDMI users. Since I don’t have a commitment to them, DVI works fine for me. I expect Samsung to provide an HDMI cable that is fully compatible with 144Hz, but that isn’t the case. Not a big deal to me though. Overall, I highly recommend upgrading to a 144Hz monitor, regardless if you go with this one or not. Samsung delivered a great product that I am not disappointed with at all, my dislikes are minor. If you have the money, do it, you will not regret it. I will make more updates to this in the future as my relationship develops with my monitor. TLDR: Great monitor, on the expensive side but I don't expect anything less from Samsung. 144Hz is absolutely game changing. The curve is subtle yet makes a huge difference in my gaming experience. Comes with all the cables necessary to connect straight out of the box, I'm not sure if this is a standard when purchasing a new monitor but someone might appreciate it as much as I did. This is a FreeSync (AMD) monitor, which is useless to me. If I were to go back in time, I'd probably do more research to find a G-Sync (Intel) monitor. ... show more

    • Great overall monitor, but some issues hold it back as well as a lack of quality control.
The Samsung CFG7 series has the potential to be the best 144Hz/1080P gaming monitor in the $300 price range. I'll start listing what this monitor does right. PROS: - Very rich and vivid colors thanks to Samsung's Quantum Dot technology allowing 125% sRGB, along with the 3000:1 native contrast ratio a VA panel provides for some great looking black levels. If image quality is your main priority while wanting to experience 144Hz and you don't want to move up to 1440P, this is pretty much the best you can get. Everything else at this price point for 144Hz are TN panels and when it comes to colors, the Samsung is quite a bit ahead. - Useful OSD settings allowing you to select from presets, or tune it to your hearts content. Out of the box, it's already pretty good but changing the "Black Equalizer" to the max setting of 20, makes the display really come to life. You can also set the monitor to different refresh rates from the settings instead of having to do it through your operating system, along with creating 3 different custom profiles to switch between on the fly. - Stand works great. It has good cable management options, and of course it can tilt, rotate and is height adjustable. Although the legs do stick out quite a bit so depending where you place the monitor on your desk, you may bump your mouse into it a few times. CONS: - The text on this monitor isn't very sharp due to the way the pixels are arranged. It's not terrible, but most people will notice the text looks slightly off and blurry while browsing. This isn't noticeable in gaming for the most part. - Due to this being a VA panel and not an IPS, you won't have to deal with IPS glow, so darker scenes should look better on this monitor for the most part. VA glow is definitely something to look out for and quite noticeable when viewing the monitor at off angles. This will shift the color quite drastically if not viewed from the optimal viewing position. - VA panels tend to have longer response times than TN and IPS which will make moving objects look a bit blurry. - Lack of quality control and customer support from Samsung, I'll go into more details below: Now the main problem with this monitor seems to be a big lack of quality control from Samsung, the older variant the CFG70, was plagued with purple artifacts which ruined the monitor. Samsung has sort of addressed this issue with this newer model, but there's still plenty of reports of people still getting monitors with this problem. This is essentially the same panel used in the older one but with newer firmware. I've gone through a total of five, yes five replacements so far and luckily I haven't had the purple artifact issue but I've had plenty of others. My main problems have been dead pixels, trapped dust under the panel and uniformity issues on the panel(darker colors on one part of the monitor). Some minor black light bleed as well but nothing terrible. So in conclusion, this is an amazing monitor if you're looking to do some gaming at 144Hz at 1080P while having very good image quality. Just be cautious when it comes to quality control as many users on various forums have reported Samsung support to be less than ideal. Also the text clarity issue is something every one of these units has, so keep that in mind for people who are sensitive to less than perfect text. If you'd like some other recommendations at around this price point for TN panels, some great choices are the Viewsonic XG2401/2402 or the LG 24GM79-B. For $100 more you can get the Acer XF270HU which is an IPS panel with 1440P/144Hz, there you'll have to play the panel lottery when it comes to IPS glow. ... show more

    • Great monitor!
This is a great monitor (even if it is a bit overpriced). I don't have an AMD card, so its FreeSync capabilities are wasted on me since NVidia won't support the open standard, but that's beside the point. This monitor looks fantastic. It's full-HD and runs at 144Hz, so it just looks amazing when you use it. This is my first 144Hz experience and once you go 144Hz, regular 60Hz displays don't look the same anymore. I also like that it has 3 inputs, which I'm sure I'll use in the future for games systems. The built-in blue light filter is a nice touch too. It was fairly simple to assemble and I'm not so nervous about taking it apart to move it. Now for the negatives: -Having the power button on the back is a tiny bit annoying, but you get used to it. -You can't turn it off easily after shutting down your PC because it can tell that the input has dropped and goes into power save mode. I don't know how much power that mode uses, but it's probably more than if it were off. You have to tap the power button to wake up the monitor, and then you can press it again to access the OSD and power down the monitor. I usually leave it in power save mode because that's a bit of a hassle. -I was having a hard time taking the neck apart so I could put the cables inside of it for cable management, as it is clearly intended. I wound up giving up because I'm not so obsessed with everything looking clean that I don't mind seeing 2 cables from my monitor. ... show more
