I’ve been using the Samsung 27 inch ViewFinity S8 monitor for a few weeks now and the first thing I noticed is how big and clear the screen looks. The 4K UHD resolution makes everything super sharp, whether I’m watching videos, playing games, or working on school projects. Small details are easy to see and text looks very crisp without looking blurry. The color quality is another strong point. With HDR10 support, the contrast between dark and bright areas looks more real, and the colors appear bright without looking fake. Movies and games look especially good on this screen. The stand is also very useful because it lets me adjust the height, tilt the screen, and rotate it vertically, which helps a lot with long webpages and homework. Connectivity is really convienent. There are multiple ports so I can plug in my laptop and other accessories without constantly unplugging things. This helps keep my desk more organized. I also like the Eye Saver Mode because it makes long sessions easier on my eyes, especially at night. It is not perfect. The menu buttons can be a little confusing at first and take some getting used to. Still, the picture quality and features make up for it. Overall, the Samsung ViewFinity S8 is a great monitor with excelent image quality and flexibility. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a large and sharp screen for work or entertainment.

Monitor quality is good. No hot spots or issues with screen image. The non-glare screen is great. Image contrast is satisfactory of general work. Sharpness and clarity is suitable for working in Photoshop and Lightroom. Good value for the price. I ended up purchasing an identical monitor for a wide desktop.

A gorgeous 4k monitor with incredibly sharp and clear ultra high resolution display. If it had speakers and a camera + mic it would truly be perfect. Ignor e the few reviews about dead pixels. That can happen to any brand. This is my 3rd Samsung monitor and they’ve all lasted years with zero issues. The stand is high quality with the ability to raise the screen up or down, full tilting, swivel and rotating to fit any setup. Even the cables the come with it are sturdy and high quality but I still used my own HDMI 2.1 cables because they are better. Probably should have got the USB C version but I already use a dongle for HDMI/USB-C/USB A so it’s still just one quick connection input and everything works wonderfully. Got it on Black Friday for around $200 and was very well worth it.

The monitor works well and does what it is supposed to. The picture is great. The only issue I had is that the height is not adjustable and the lower part of the screen is 7" above my desk. My other Samsung 32" 4k monitor is 4" above my desk. 3" sounds small, but it is a surprisingly huge difference. I could raise my chair, but I like being able to have my feet on the floor. Unfortunately for me, the one I bought originally is no longer available for sale.

I just upgraded to a Macintosh Mini M4 (I have posted a separate review of that) and needed a monitor to go with it. I did a lot of research, and while the perfect match would be a Macintosh Retina monitor, those are pricey. Amazon had quite a price reduction on this (I paid $199), and I compared (online) it to other 4K monitors and it seemed like a great deal—plus, I’ve had various Samsung products over the years (tablets, phones, TVs) and have been very satisfied with them. I am not mechanically inclined, and the stand assembly instructions are only pictorial, so I did have a bit of a problem figuring that out. Once I did, I realized how easy it is. I think I was just afraid of scratching the screen or breaking something. The monitor, mounted on the stand, can be rotated to be portrait or landscape, and it can be raised and lowered. The angle can be adjusted, but as far as I can tell, it can’t be 90%—it’s always on a slight angle. The monitor itself is very lightweight. The screen has a matte finish, which I like, though it can be reflective if you have bright light (such as through a window) behind you. Screen brightness out of the box is very good—good contrast, bright whites, dark blacks—and the picture is very clear and sharp. In tandem with my Mac, five different resolutions are available through System Preferences: 1152 x 648; 1504 x 846; 1920 x 1080 (set as the default by the Mac); 2560 x 1440; and 3840 x 2160. My preference is 2560 x 1440, and for my eyes, that works best with the M4. 3840 x 2160 is amazingly sharp, but I find the text too small to read at that resolution. But you can certainly get a lot on this 27” screen with that latter setting. The type is very sharp—photos and graphics maybe not as sharp as an Apple monitor, but nevertheless, excellent quality, in my opinion. This offers a few different ways to hook up to a computer—from my M4, HDMI was the easiest and that does give very high res and no delays. This came with three different high-quality cables, including HDMI. I thought this had speakers but apparently not. It does, however, have a headphone jack, and I have that hooked to an external amp, and the sound is excellent. Note that the jack is analog 1/8”. Apparently no one uses optical out anymore, and I don’t know why not. What I do find difficult are the controls. It has a lot of fine-tuning options, generally as many as you’d find on an HDTV. But all those intricate adjustments cannot be made through the Mac. There is one button on the back of the monitor, which turns it off and on, and the button sort of has edges to get to the menus and scroll through them, but I found that very frustrating. And also, backwards—I’d have to scroll up to go down; left to go right. You may not need to make adjustments though, as the factory settings looked good to me. All in all so far (I’ve only had this setup for about a week), I am very pleased with this monitor and find it to be a very good match with the Mac mini M4.

Wow! What an absolutely beautiful monitor! I didn’t have any high expectations because it was priced so low for a 4k monitor, albeit only 60hz. I just needed a second monitor to run in portrait mode without an arm for a productivity. This monitor turns 90 degrees no problem. I powered it on hooked up to my PC and was actually blown away! Brightness is great! Colors super vibrant and pop. No backlight bleed! HDR works great! Absolutely beautiful display and the pixel density is amazing I have this right next to my LG 5k2k display and it’s beautiful! Super happy with this monitor!
