  • Fantastic Mid-Range Gaming Monitor at Budget Monitor Pricing
Size: 27-Inch
Sometimes, it is challenging to find a good gaming monitor on a budget. We are typically the ones who build and set up gaming computers for all the teenagers in our family. It is usually a big deal to all of them when they outgrow their first computer and prove they are ready for their first gaming setup. One of the hardware pieces that almost no one thinks about is the monitor. A good gaming monitor can be extremely expensive, and it can be overwhelming for parents trying to buy one on a budget. It was one of the reasons I was very excited to try the Samsung 27" Odyssey G3 Gaming Monitor. Before I go any further, I have to say that this monitor truly amazed me. I was expecting this price to be more in line with a budget monitor, not a well-rounded mid-range gaming monitor. The refresh rate on this monitor is superb (200 Hz). For people who need fast response times in games, such as FPS (first-person shooter) games, this monitor responds quickly without issue. The colors are also absolutely stunning and crisp - it's not HDR but it did an excellent job in our testing with deep blacks and vibrant lighter colors, I've seen and used far worse displays at higher price points. To fully test its refresh rate and color density, we tested the monitor out in 3DMark, where it truly showed off its visual specs. Visually speaking, this is the perfect monitor for those who want fast refresh rates and responsiveness without sacrificing visual experience. It even looks stunning from the side or the corners, areas where even some higher-end monitors struggle (something I've seen first-hand). While this may be small in the grand scheme of things, I also love the nice, clean cable management built into the monitor stand. It is also VESA-mount-friendly, with the mounting area in the center of the monitor. For someone like me who works on a multi-monitor setup, this was a major deal. It also offers modern display connectivity options with both DisplayPort and HDMI. The only issue I had with the monitor is that I personally didn't like the stand. It's solid plastic, so while it should hold up for quite a while, it felt much cheaper than I expected. This wasn't the end of the world, for me personally, since I have a mount for my monitors, but it was important for anyone who is depending on the stand. Overall, I thought this was a fantastic, well-rounded 1080p monitor, budget to mid-range, that is perfect for gamers and those hoping for a larger workstation monitor. I honestly find the price incredible for the quality of this monitor, making it a fantastic buy for anyone on a budget looking for a new monitor. ... show more

  • 200 Hz makes a big difference.
Size: 27-Inch
Out of the box, the monitor isn't all that impressive. It is extremely light weight. It does come with a stand that is 2 parts: one arm and the base that you have to assemble to use. There is also a VESA mount screw holes in the back. This did not come with the screws or at least I couldn't find them. I mounted this to my monitor display without issue. The inputs are a USB-A connection that provides analog USB audio. This can also be used to provide very low power to devices too. There's an RCA audio jack as well. The connections are both a display port and HDMI connection. Lastly, a DC port for the power block. When I connected and powered it on, it immediately recognized the HDMI connection and turned on. I didn't have to turn it on as it just powered on as soon as it recognized an active connection. I like the joystick like interface as I don't have to fumble for up/down/select/back/menu buttons common to most monitors. This made navigating the menu much easier. At first, it simply connected at 60Hz and nothing special was noticed. But then I enabled the 200Hz refresh rate and my laptop immediately adjusted to match and it makes a huge difference for gaming. I was testing it with the game American Truck Simulator and it is really smooth. My pc has an ATI Radeon card, (new, but low end) and it communicated with the AMD Adaptive Sync technology and really works well with the games. I maxed out the settings and it was like watching a football game on a brand new HD tv in the store for the first time. The smoothness of the screen movements are almost sickening. There is a half inch gap between the screen display to the edge of a monitor so there will be a gap if you use multiple monitors. After a lot of playing around, it is now an impressive monitor. ... show more

  • A Superb Budget Monitor
Size: 27-Inch
I’ve been using this monitor for three days, and so far I love it. It’s bright, can go up to 200hz refresh rate, supports HDR and VRR. For gaming, this is a great budget monitor. The response times are fast and I don’t notice any ghosting. In fact, I can’t perceive much difference compared to a high-end 240 hz QD-OLED monitor. I’m running it at 120hz for gaming and it’s been working great. I think this monitor would also suitable for the office work. The design is nice and doesn’t have any RGB. I found text easy to read and is great for word processing and spreadsheet work. And being that it is only a 1080p monitor, you don’t need to worry about scaling issues with your operating system or programs. It has a five-way button underneath the logo to power it on and access the menu. The menu system is basic, and that’s a good thing. The menu system responsive and intuitive to use. There are scene modes for various game genres, cinema mode, and a custom mode. There is even a virtual cross-hair feature. The stand is made of thick plastic and the monitor doesn’t wobble much at all, but you will need a screwdriver to attach it. In addition to the external power supply, it comes with one HDMI cable and one DisplayPort cable. It doesn’t have built-in speakers, but there is a 3.5mm headphone jack to get audio. Pros + Suitable for gaming and office work + Big 27 inch display + Bright + Up to 200 Hz refresh rate + Supports HDR and VRR + Minimal IPS “glow” + Great anti-reflection coating + VESA mount compatible + Budget-friendly Cons - Only 1080p ... show more

  • Great size for my desk, beautiful picture.
Size: 27-Inch
This monitor is absolutely beautiful. I'm using it right now for this review and I love the size of it. I have a MacBook Air and have it connected via a USB hub since my Mac only has usb-c ports. I know there are a lot of other monitors that allow an external video output via usb-c and I wish this monitor had that. It would've been substantially easier to set up if I could have just gone usb-c to usb-c on the monitor. Instead I had to hook up a hub that allowed me to use the HDMI cable that came with it. But that being said the set up process was still very easy, and is basically plug and play. I pretty much turned my MacBook Air into a desktop with this set up as well. I can keep my laptop on a shelf under my desk space, and just have the monitor on the desk. I have a bluetooth mouse and keyboard that I have connected and it's now the perfect amount of desk space! The monitor itself is gorgeous for both color and graphics. I have no issue with how everything looks. I will say I had a broken piece upon arrival, but from what I can gather it's only to slide cords through? There was zero damage to the box or foam, so I do believe this is a manufacturing defect that should be resolved. It was a very flimsy piece of plastic and I can see why it would just snap off. I didn't need it as my cords just hang nicely right off the back of the desk anyways. The stand works nicely and was simple to put together. I may eventually hang it with a monitor mount. All in all I'm pleased with the product and the 27" is a perfect size for work, tv, and gaming. ... show more

  • Mislabeled, don't trust this page
Size: 27-Inch
If you are expecting an OLED 4K monitor, you'd have reason to as the product page for this is an utter mess. Let me tell you which model you actually receive. It's the S27HG302EN if you order the 27 inch model. I'd like to give this a good rating as it is a good budget monitor. I've had samsungs before and they tend to be very decent overall. Quality is typically solid and the picture is good too. I'm not going to swap my LG 29in ultrawide for it on my main because it's not the monitor I thought it would be. I cannot in good conscience give this anything more than a 1/5 on this because of this mess. This page is utterly confusing and frankly, I was hoping it was indeed an OLED. Wouldn't have ordered it if it wasn't. You cannot make any kind of buying decision when this page is distorted with facts from multiple products. So sorry Samsung, you get the lowest rating. Inexcusable. If you fix this, I'll amend but, this note will remain. You sent a basic 1080p LCD when your page stated OLED and 4K. ... show more

  • Should give lower review but it's not the fault of the monitor. Do better! Monitor is awesome!
Size: 27-Inch
In terms of FHD and 200HZ, this is a fantastic monitor. If you have a rig setup for 1440p or 1080p gaming, this is definitely an upgrade if for no other reason than to achieve 200hz buttery smoothness which is unparalleled at this price point, many kudos. I'm also impressed with the image quality as the LED screen does offer sharp black contrasts. Unfortunately, as of this writing, the description of this monitor is quite mis leading in several key areas. First, it's not an OLED, just LED. Second, it's not 4K, it's FHD. Third, and quite odd, the ad describes 165hz refresh, but the main title indicates 200hz, which it is. I believe all of this comes down to this being listed as both an Odyssey G3 and a G7. Somebody, basically copied and pasted G3 verbiage to describe the actual product, but kept the ad descriptions for a G7. This needs to be corrected. ... show more

  • Fantastic Monitor for the Price — Perfect for a Dual-Screen Setup
Size: 27-Inch
My current monitor is beginning to die, so I've been looking for a replacement, and this Samsung Odyssey G3 100% fits the bill. The screen quality is tremendous. Everything looks sharp and clear, the colors look great, and the high refresh rate makes everything feel incredibly smooth. Whether I'm using it for everyday work or gaming, I've been very impressed with the picture quality and overall performance. What really makes this monitor stand out, though, is the value. For the price, you're getting a lot of monitor here. Samsung quality, an IPS display, 200Hz refresh rate, and a 1ms response time at this price point make it an easy recommendation. It's also the perfect monitor for a two-screen setup. The size gives you plenty of usable screen space without completely taking over your desk. If you're looking to replace an aging monitor or add a second display to your setup, this one should definitely be on your list. Excellent picture, great performance, and an outstanding price. For me, it's a must-buy! ... show more

  • Great quality as you would come to expect from Samsung
Size: 27-Inch
This monitor is an excellent buy. It has an amazing picture with bright and accurate colors. The monitor itself is well designed and have a good quality look that would fit in to just about any situation. The monitor will go to 200hz, but right out of the box it is defaulted to 60hz. This was confusing for a few minutes since the instructions do not tell you that you have to go into the menu and switch it manually to 200hz in order to run it in that mode. Not the end of the world, but it could have been documented in the manual or allowed for automatic switching. The joystick that enters the menu is a little cumbersome but that is more or less the standard nowadays anyway and it works fine. Overall, very happy with this monitor ... show more
