I bought this bag to commute with a small laptop, the contents of a small purse, and my lunch. It's perfect for that. I wanted a large central pocket instead of the multiple medium-sized compartments that my existing laptop backpack had. The central pocket could fit gym shoes and maybe a workout shirt if I've got the laptop in it. (I'd have to take out the laptop and anything else if I wanted to fit all of my workout clothes and shoes in it, so it's definitely too small to be a gym bag.) The description said there's a side pocket that could fit a water bottle, but I definitely wouldn't try that. The side pocket is really about the right size for a cell phone, wallet and keys, but I wear my bag on the subway and I wouldn't trust the other commuters not to help themselves. It'd be easy for someone behind me to get into the front and side pockets without my knowledge and I don't like riding the train with my bag in front of me or on the wet & muddy floor, so I leave those pockets empty. There are a couple of interior pockets that I use for small sundries, like my company ID badge, breath mints, band-aids, etc. I actually use my regular small purse in the bottom of the bag for more organization, which is especially useful on weekends because I can pull out my purse to run around doing errands that I don't need my work laptop for. In short, it's a backpack that is small without being a purse, looks absolutely fantastic, and has a respectable amount of interior organization without sacrificing space in the largest pocket. It would be a lousy security bag if you needed that while traveling. The material feels sturdy and hasn't taken any damage from commuting for a month. This is my second backpack in a different color. I love them and I use them at the office when I want a more professional look. I don't like business bags because they're too side heavy/strain on posture. This is great material, very sturdy, well made and I get a lot of compliments. It looks classy, so it's kind of a dressier backpack option. My laptop slides right in with all of my files. I can throw my lunch in there and even have space left over for the contents that would be in my purse so I don't have to carry both things if I want to compact everything for ease and comfort. I purchased this for use as a work bag, and it has been useful. It’s attractive, lightweight, big enough to hold all my supplies and still have room in it. I like the shoulder strap option. My only concern is that it doesn’t appear to be made too sturdy. No problems thus far, but I am interested to see how long it lasts. For now, I’d buy it again. ... show more

Took this and the 19" matching spinner on a 6 day trip and had more room than I needed. This backpack fit everything (laptop, cables, tablet, ipad, phone, sunglasses, all liquids in clear bag, cosmetic bag, readers, all basic purse contents, nice small web pouch on inside top of bag perfect for glasses and/or boarding pass. This bag gives easy access for moving through the TSA. Highly recommend this and the spinner (carry-on). Packed a lot in both and were sooooo light. The backpack fits over the handle of a spinner so easy to walk around the airport. Also, love the top access in the backpack as it was super easy to access under my airplane seat and is plenty wide to reach and see everything. Best travel purchase I've ever made since my hidden travel belt I bought in college. Only two things to note: It needs a small outside compartment for a phone. I constantly had to access the bag or keep my phone in my jacket. An outside pocket and this bag would be perfect. Also, not bad to take shopping or casually once at your destination but a bit large to take out to dinner so need to get a small purse to use for going out with clients, etc. but good news is that it will fit in this bag. This is the lightest backpack I’ve owned. I liked it so much I bought another one in black. So I have the navy and black. I bought one for my twin sister and my daughter and my other sisters saw them and had to get one too. It has many compartments to use, including a tablet or laptop. I put my iPad Pro 12.9 inch in it with ease. It should hold up to 15 inches on a laptop. Not sure, but it seems to be plenty of room for one.
