We purchased this three piece hard side set to replace an older two piece Samsonite soft side set we’ve had for many years and needed to be retired. We always have had soft side luggage but thought we’d try the hard side version for a change and found this Centric 2 set for what we thought was a pretty good price. On receiving the luggage, our first thought was that the outer hard shell was more flexible than we anticipated and I was skeptical about the durability of the luggage. But all three pieces made their maiden cross country plane trip intact and fairly unscathed. Yes, the luggage had some light scratches and scuffing, but that was minor, and the zippers, wheels, handles all came through with flying colors. I read a couple of other reviews where the zippers were an issue but I think they are pretty heavy duty and we had no issues with them. Same for the wheels. The wheels stick out more than those on our old set but they appear pretty solid and roll like a dream. We stuffed all three pieces full for our trip but really packed a lot in the large suitcase and it was a little tough to close. Not horrendously so but I was concerned about the zipper breaking so I thought it might be a good idea to use the expandable feature. Nice idea, that took the excess strain off of the zipper, but I found that the top flexed way too much and I thought this might create more of a problem when the bag was loaded and unloaded off of the planes. So I zippered the expandable part back up and we made it home without mishap. PROS: We really appreciate the fact that all three pieces fit inside of each other for combined storage, something that our old set couldn’t do. We like the TSA friendly locks and how they are out of the way. The interior zippered compartments are very nice. The wheels, as mentioned earlier, seem pretty durable and roll like a dream. Pretty light weight, no where near as heavy as our old soft side set. CONS: Okay, this is nitpicking, but the outer shell will get scratched and scuffed. Anybody that has flown knows how tough baggage handling can be. And the description does say “scratch resistant” not scratch proof. I thought our bags came through our trip pretty well. Lastly, not that this matters to us but the carry on has a built in charger for phones, tablets, etc. but you have to buy the battery separately. We don’t care and will probably never use it but just letting you know incase you missed that in the description. ... show more

I like the design and appearance. The square-ish corner design maximizes interior space. They are light. Too early for me to comment on reliability. What I will say is that an 18” Samsonite roller case I’ve used for only about 1-2 dozen trips already needs the wheels to be replaced, as this early wear is considered “normal.” The repair shop offering warranty repair is not in a convenient central location, and they couldn’t help as this isn’t considered a defect. So the five year warranty isn’t much of a warranty unless the product arrives defective. ... show more

I have used these for a couple of trips, and very happy so far. They are a very nice quality and look good. I ordered the Caribbean blue, but it looks more like teal to me. The expandable zipper feature is very nice to have. The set is 3 pieces and I haven't used the largest size yet. The large suitcase is huge. If I filled it, I would need help to get it in my car. The smaller two pieces are perfect for 3-5 days. The middle sized is big enough for all clothes, and the smaller one for toiletries, gifts, etc. I should have only bought the two suitcases, but the price for 3 is still good enough to go ahead and get the set. I have used the two smaller suitcases for a road trip and stayed at a hotel. These two cases were real lifesavers at a hotel. Easy to pack the car, with just two cases and my purse, and then easy to manuver into the hotel. I didn't need any big rolling cart. The wheels were very good, even on carpet down long hallways. We were considering Samsonite and other brands when looking for luggages for our recent travels. Glad we decided on this set. We got the 20" and 24" as a set and I have to say, these are one of the best luggages we ever own. We also got them while on sale, $128 for 2 of them, couldn't be happier. We have used them for international and domestic travels. They do not disappoint. Light weight, water proof and easy to maneuver. When we were in Japan, we need to walk from train station to hotel in the rain. These luggages kept everything dry. Great built quality as well. The only thing, I wish the 20" has is the built in lock. The 24" comes with it. ... show more

I ordered this in Emerald Green Carryon Size. I will preface this by stating, I used the credit from the last attempted purchase to pay part of this one. So I was already less than impressed that the first suitcase I bought had the TSA locks (which I thought this one did also) but the lock mechanism was broken and I never was able to open it. I decided to go with a well-known name brand after that experience. I wanted different colored luggage in order to spot it with ease, and the emerald green appealed to me. Now on to the purchase. The process was easy and the package arrived on time but the Samsonite arrived with large scuffs. It was not in Samsonite packaging of any kind. (used? refurbished?). It also does not have the TSA combination locks though it has had images and/or videos with them on this luggage. It rolls well though I am somewhat worried about the strength of the handle. It definitely has some wiggle to it. I don't think I will purchase the rest of the set on Amazon after these issues. I will definitely want to check the bags in person to be sure they are sturdy, have the features shown, and are not damaged or used. ... show more

Received this quickly; packaged great. What an upgrade from my vintage bag. I love the swivel wheels... So easy to maneuver! They offer a great bag, great color at a reasonable price. I love the two separate zippered sides. I had my old soft sided luggage for 15+ years. Cosmetically it has seen better days...
