This is my first purchase of either a trail running shoe or the Salomon brand. I purchased them for hiking in the Teton mountain area. I was beyond impressed with these shoes! My first thought when trying them on were that they felt a little big. But when I put on my hiking socks and walked in them, they were actually spot on as far as size. They have "aggressive" treads on them. We did some hiking in rain/mud going over rocks and up and down hills. These shoes performed excellently. I never slipped. Speaking of wet and mud, I got pretty deep in some areas. In spite of the rain, my feet stayed dry and I was astonished that after nearly burying my foot in mud, after a quick walk through tall grass on the way back to the car there was virtually no mud on my shoes. The photos I'm sharing are AFTER wearing these shoes in two different mud situations and without any extra cleaning effort on my part aside from walking through grass. Very Impressed! Comfort is a big deal for me. I work on my feet and have had to have surgery in the past to relieve foot pain. I did not experience any pain from these shoes. They offered great support. I did not experience the muscle fatigue in my feet and legs that comes from compensating for ill-fitting shoes. My first impression, putting them on in my living room, was that they were not very cushioned. But out on the trails, I found them to be quite comfortable. The treads themselves seem to absorb much of the shock. I appreciate that this shoe is offered in a larger size. I searched several brands and there are very few that offer a Women's size 12. I've had to buy men's shoes in the past and it's hard when shopping online to know which men's size to try and they are, of course, styled toward men's fashion. Overall, these shoes far surpassed my expectations. Especially when the heavy rain started. Well worth the money spent.

These are, by far, the best pair of shoes I have ever purchased. I have purchased two other pairs of Salomon trail running shoes, which I loved, and these far surpass even those. I went a full size bigger to accommodate thick socks, and they will be perfect. You may want to go a half size bigger. Especially if you will be using these in the winter. I didn’t buy wide, because I have a high arch and the regular width helps that, but if you are a wide, then definitely go with a wide. These are slightly on the narrow side, so keep that in mind. I bought this same size in other Salomon’s and the other ones were too big for even thick socks. These shoes are amazing and worth every penny. You will not be disappointed!

I was a bit skeptical at first because of the price since it will be my work shoes. Once I received it, I put it on and it fits perfectly. I'm size 6.5 but I went with size 7 for comfort and I did the right thing. The grip is good. It's totally non-slip shoes, yet not squeaky when walking except when I'm walking on a wet surface. It's rugged and durable, yet flexible. The picture shown is after a few days of wearing it.

Durable, Long Lasting, Dependable, Comfortable, Wearable for Hours, Versatile, stylish. This is my second pair and I may buy another one so I can always have a pair for many years to come! Two-Three years with one shoe that's not destroyed is well worth the $200 price tag! I'm hard on shoes, I'm a thru hiker, a gardener, and a daily dog walker! These shoes never disappointed in over two years till I just recently decided I cannot hike mountains with the tread warn down. That's the only thing, two and a half years and the tread lugs are worn. I still wear them around the yard, still waterproof and comfortable! I'm a believer of Salomon. I'm scared to try the GTX6 version but I know years down the road when I can't find these I will have to.

I love speed crosses, especially, this version. No need to break in these shoes. They are ready to go for your adventuring needs. When they get, they dry pretty quickly. Super rugged and can withstand dirt, rocks, mud.. your all terrain shoe!

Winter is coming, so I had to get her another pair of the Goretex version. Before the Salomons, she solely wore Asics running shoes. She's on her feet all day and swore by them. But now, it's Salomons. No complaints whatsoever about her feet. Women, get this line of shoes on your husband's Amazon feed. Constantly. He'll take a look at some point. Fellas, sorry. But forgo that new tool accessory and just get a pair of these for her. You won't regret it.

Shoes fit as expected in length in my regular size, and cradled my feet like a warm hug without even needing to bother with the laces. If I were a serious runner looking for a comfortable cushioned waterproof shoe with a glove-like fit, I would have been all about them. However they were a little to aggressively styled and futuristic for my more casual dog walking needs. I ended up going with the Solomon Outpulse GTX instead.
