Very comfortable and there was no break in period. I bought these so I could go glacier hiking and they were awesome. Waterproof and feet were warm the whole day. Wish my hands stayed as warm as they did.

I have ordered versions of this Salomon product for years, and I highly recommend it. I have bad ankles and high arches. I have to put special inserts into the soles because of my high arches, but the boots are awesome. Some say that they are heavy and bulky. In a nutshell, so what?! I hike in rocky and heavily rooted areas, where these boots have saved my toes and ankles over and over again. I have to work them in a little because they are stiff when you first purchase them, but they conform to your feet. They can take a pounding too. I slowly shift older pairs to be my work boots and have worked them to death until the soles break away. I live in Wyoming, so the GTX is very helpful and the boots take a beating. These are not waterproof, so using them in the snow as snowboots is dumb. I know that not all boots are for everyone, but these are great for both hiking and backpacking. I'm in love with these boots. I just got them and haven't put them through the ringer yet but they are comfortable and I really like the hardware like the lace loop on the tongue that makes it easy to put them on and the grommets and lace anchors. I don't think they are heavy but I'm use to steel toed work boots with weight to them. They also look very sharp in my opinion. I'll update once I've broken them in and put some wear and miles on them. They feel comfortable out of the box but I suspect they'll form to my feet over time. I'm flat footed and wide as well. These are comfortable with some hiking socks. I'm usually a 12 US but the 11.5 fit my feet just right with thick wool socks. ... show more

I did not buy from listed seller, but a local REI. However, I can say confidently that so far, these boots are great for the activities, for which they were designed. I am only 30 miles in, so I am still breaking them in, but the comfort and quality are superior to my old beloved Keen hiking boots. ***Update*** 3 mo. in and I now have several hundred miles on these hiking boots and am very pleased that they still look and feel great. Product was very good!….HOWEVER….what they DON’T tell you is that if you return them FOR ANY REASON…like I did due to the wrong size….ITS A $114.98 restocking fee!!! ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!!!!!
