I have been wearing these trainers from the get go. If you like the 5 stick with them. For reasons unknown the 6 is far narrower probably explaining why they are now selling a 6 wide. The same thing happened when they went from 3->4. Other than faffing at the edges I can see no merit in the update. In fact the chevrons on the sole felt less sturdy/rigid than the 5. Not good given that I burn through these shoes every 3-4 months. In summation stick with the 5 or check out the wide 6. I’m going with the former and saving dollars at the same time.

this is a great feeling shoe, I've always wanted a pair of Salomon speed cross running shoe, but i was to much of a tight ass to buy a pair. finally i decided to purchase a pair and now are my favorite shoe to wear, i truly love these things. Great Shoe !!

I do a lot of trail running and hiking, and after going through several pairs of shoes, I've finally found the Salomon Speedcross series to be the best. Over the last couple of years I've gone through several pairs and about 2000 miles and they've remained my preferred shoe. First and foremost, sizing is on point but these fit narrow compared to a lot of shoes, even the wide version doesn't truly feel "wide." If you have a large/wide foot, you may want to try a pair on before you buy. However, with that said, that narrow fit usually translates to stability due to how snug around your feet they fit. Additionally, the tread on the shoes translates to the best grip I've encountered on a trail shoe which leads to a lot of confidence on the trails and hills whether it be rocky, smooth, slippery, or wet. The insoles are comfortable but in wetter conditions they can potentially curl up when descending steep hills. Additionally, I deal with a lot of foot pain, so for that they tend to run a little thin. I typically just replace the included soles with thicker, thermomoldable ones, which in my case, have consistently been the Viktos brand "Ruck Recovery" insoles but there are plenty of other options out there as well. Speaking of the tread, it's pretty durable. Through mostly dry, hard packed, southern California terrain, I'll average about 400-600 miles (or usually 4-6 months) per pair. With that said, at around 400 miles the tread around the ball of foot is usually worn down enough to consider replacing them just for the sake of potential slipping down less than stable (hard-packed with grainy pebbles/rocks and loose dirt) terrain. Also worth noting, it's not recommended to use these on pavement or asphalt, the lifespan of the tread will go down significantly if you do. So keep that in mind if you're using these in mixed terrain environments that may include paved roads. All that aside, I've yet to find a better all-around trail shoe.

Nice fit, easy ordering, slow delivery from Amazon. This was the 2nd pair I ordered. The first was too small, by a half size, which I believe was due to Salomon making a design change. The second pair fit great but were higher priced than the first. You win some and lose some!

I have had other trail shoes and absolutely love Solomon. I do have other hiking boots that I use but these trail running shoes for me personally. Love them! The tread is excellent. Lightweight arch support for me is good. Again this is for me. May not be for everyone but I really love these shoes

These Speedcross's run small compared to my XA Pro 3D's and Crests. I usually wear 11 US, but I need 11.5 US in the Speedcross. Other than that they looked good and seemed to be the same quality as my other models. Wish i would have ordered the bigger size too when they had them in stock!

Salomon and Merrell are the only two brands of shoes I where. Whether for running/hiking or just general wear and tear...the stand the test and come back for more. Take care of your feet and get a good pair of shoes. They deserve it.

2nd pair of Solomon’s. The 1st wore out in the heel very quickly. They changed the design I assume. These have seen more than 100 trail miles so far and no issues. So good I bought 2 more pair of the Speedcross 5’s
