  • This will be your favorite game

Love this game, it’s a favorite for my friend group

  • Werewolf Social Deduction-like Game, But Twistier
Style: Salem 1692
The rules (like all rules) might sounds a little bit confusing at first, but my friends and I just dove into this game headfirst, reading as we went along and it was great. My group of fellow players really like social deduction games in which one player is on the 'secret' team. The only issue with those games is that everyone really eventually wants to BE that special role ... well in this game if you are the Witch character (the special role) there is a mechanic that allows for you to make other players into Witches like you and bring them onto your team. So as the Witch you can play it risky and try to use this 'recruiting' mechanic -- but knowing this mechanic exists also cultivates a sense of paranoia (the fun kind) in all the other players. My friends and I played this maybe 6 times in a row and it got better and better as we started to get a better handle on the mechanics and how to leverage them. And also, this is just with four players, which traditionally is nowhere near enough for a game of 'traditional' werewolf (7+ is best) to work. The final game I ended up losing ... as the remaining 3 players had all become witches. I was the lone holdout in an entire 'town' that had converted to witchcraft, very exciting conclusion. I recommend this game highly, it's got a simple, yet exciting mechanic. I bought this to bring on camping trip later in the year and plan on seeing how well it scales up to more people. The pieces feel high quality and we love the ancient text 'book' that holds the game materials. Very well done. ... show more

  • SO ADDICTING
Style: Salem 1692
Yes, this game took 1, 2, ok maybe 5 times to fully understand what everything means (it's hard to teach a group of wild, inebriated 20 somethings new things), but once you're in it you're HOOKED. This game is amazingly fun and really brings out everyone's personality. My friend group has introduced it to over 50 people and we have not had a single negative review. Almost everyone that has played with us has asked when we're playing next! The rules are intricate, but the game is expertly crafted. It allows a typically nice, harmless, trustworthy person in everyday life to be vile, cunning, and manipulative. And we love it. This tests you ability to fib to your friends to the 100th degree. If skill games scare you, don't worry, you don't always have to be at the top of your game to fully enjoy it. As far as time it takes to play, it does depend on your group size sometimes, but overall regardless of the amount of people playing, we've had games last 5 minutes all the way up to an hour and a half. (Also depends on concentration level of players.) I recommend this to anyone looking for a game that will unite their friend group, wanting to play it again and again, almost making it a tradition of sorts. 11/10 ... show more

We absolutely love this game! It’s a hit every time we bring it out, whether it’s with friends or family. The theme is fun and unique, and the gameplay keeps everyone engaged. Highly recommend if you enjoy strategy and deduction games — it’s become a go-to in our collection.

  • Very fun take on "Are You a Werewolf"
Style: Salem 1692
Given the affordable price, I got this as a game for a gamer couple. When they came over one night they bought the game, and we gave it a whirl (both them and my girlfriend and I). When I saw it was a variation of the game "Are You a Werewolf," I was dubious. Such games usually only work well with a group of 6 or more. But this game makes it work, very well. Even with only four players, it keeps a nice air of mystery. The cards address this issue quite well, and make it much harder to suss out who is the witch. Solidly constructed and quite affordable. Definitely recommended! ... show more

  • Fun
Style: Salem 1692
If you're looking for a card game that brings a thrilling blend of strategy, deception, and good old-fashioned fun to your family game night, look no further than Salem 1692. This game truly shines as an engaging experience for players of all ages, offering a fantastic opportunity for some lighthearted sleuthing and accusation. What makes Salem 1692 so captivating is its immersive theme, drawing you right into the tense atmosphere of the infamous witch trials. The roles are dynamic, and the gameplay keeps everyone on their toes, constantly guessing who's innocent and who's secretly plotting mischief. It’s a game that encourages lively discussion, pointed fingers, and plenty of "Aha!" moments when a hidden identity is finally revealed. My family and I have had some truly memorable, laughter-filled evenings playing this one – it genuinely hits the mark as a "fun game for the whole family." However, I do have one notable piece of feedback: the directions can be a little confusing and hard to understand at first. While the core concept of the game is straightforward, some of the nuances and specific rules might require a few re-reads and perhaps a quick online search for clarification during your initial playthroughs. It's not a deal-breaker by any means, but be prepared to dedicate a bit of time to understanding the rulebook before jumping in, especially with younger players. A clear, concise tutorial video online might be a good companion for your first session. Despite this minor hurdle, the payoff is absolutely worth it. Once you've got the rules down, Salem 1692 becomes an incredibly rewarding experience. It's a game that fosters strategic thinking, encourages playful deception, and provides endless entertainment. If your family enjoys games with a strong theme, social deduction, and a touch of mystery, then Salem 1692 is a highly recommended addition to your collection. Just be patient with the initial learning curve, and you'll be well on your way to hours of witch-hunting (or defending) fun! ... show more
